Brake / Clutch rubber cover

All,

Taken the car for it's MOT and it's failed on a couple of points one being the rubber cover for the brake pedal is missing.

Does anyone have a 'spare' brake or clutch rubber cover (they are the same size) for a manual 4200. They are no longer a stocked item and in any event suppliers are asking over £100 for one by the time tax and delivery is factored in, which is nuts for a piece of rubber!

I have seen a few of the aluminium sets, but they are £180 for a set.

Any help greatly appreciated, I may resort to cutting a bit of rubber mat and glueing it on if all else fails.

ES keep a box of second hand peddle covers (or they did a few years ago). I bought two, one for the clutch and one for the break, they were only £5 each and in excellent condition!..........Give them a try.

I'm after one too, ES told me nla, I assumed they woulda told me if they had a s/h one but worth a call I dare say. I ummed and arred when a set appeared for sale in Bahrain for £120 but at the time I thought something cheaper would turn up, but turned out to be not the case. Do bear in mind they are the same as 3200 manual set-up which helps but I've still had no luck.
I notice this Audi one on ebay, looks similar, no idea if it's similar in size, might be worth to drop the seller a message for dimensions.

I'm amazed it's an MOT failure. There's a US company that will make you some custom Al ones very reasonably.

Can't bloody remember the name though!

He’s got the length dimension on the listing 3 1/2 inches long, not sure if that’s the same as the Maserati one as I’m not near the car.

This may fit but i cant be 100% certain.

If its the same size as 3200 pedals then it may be worth messaging @JTop as i think he bought a donar vehicle for his 3200 rebuild and may have a spare.

Other than that if its to get it through its mot. Halfords / amazon alloy universal pedal covers for around £20 a set until you manage to track one down.

Thanks all for your replies. I have messaged @JTop just to see if he can help. I might look into some of the aftermarket pedal covers, there is an aluminium sparco set with rubber inserts on Amazon that doesn’t look too bad under £30, possibly a bit ‘boy racer’ but at least it’s an Italian brand.

Definitely a MOT fail as your footwear could slip on a shiny metal surface especially if wet.

So if you got a piece of that non slip grip tape for stairs/steps and stuck it on they could not argue? For mot purposes only, not longterm obviously.

I do not have a donor vehicle, close to impossible here in Australia(only have 128 + imports(3200GT) in the country, heaps more 4200, but haven't found a manual one cheap just yet haha). Sourcing all parts from UK-Germany-Italy-Netherlands etc. Can't help in this situation, sorry @4200_GT

@madmanmart would be the person with the spares! give him a message

Absolutely and always remember the MOT test is minimum standard and only really worth anything when the car is in the test bay.
Really glad I'm no longer a tester it's a mind numbing job that's for sure.
A bit like being a Gynecologist as mostly your dealing with twáts ;)

What does the MOT actually need? Can you simply get some grip tape / basically sticky back sand paper and stick that on to get it through the test then investigate later?
