I had a similar sound in my first 4200 and it turned oit to be the blower fan which was hitting a pool of water in its housing caused by the good old blocked overflow pipe.

A quick rodgering of the pipe with a coat hanger removed the blockage and water and no more noise...strange thing was I had a dry passenger footwell.

could yours be similar? Maybe some discarded masking tape following the respray?

I thought it might be something like that, but certainly not the aircon fan. Turned it up / off / around. No difference. I'm sure the magic man will be able to work it out.

It'll be some scanner if it detects stuck masking tape

how were they when you collected it , stick it there, it'll drive him nuts

If it were me I'd be wanting these jobs done quick smart whilst under the first 3 months warranty!

I think it's an SD3 from what I've read , sounds strange if it doesn't alter with speed or engine revs , what rotating part doesn't change speed with either and is on all the time , I can't think of one

I have (possibly) thought of one. Secondary air pump.

If the solenoid is playing up, I wonder if it could be continuing to pump some air, and causing the ECU to rich up the mixture.

Something of a wild stab though.

Using proper diagnostics on our cars is crucial Chris not sure what Aldous has but obviously top level so will be interested to see whats stored.
Using the New Diagnosi Evo on a MY15 Ghibli today with no known faults or warning lights was suprised how much was logged in the control units.

Aldous has a Texa

What we learned today is that :

He can't see the fuel trims on my car
He can't add new keys

What we *did* learn is that it's misfiring on 5,6,7 and 8 only and it's highly unlikely to be the variators.

It's booked in Giallo for early June :)

Interesting.

Matthew didn't seem phased at all. Asked all sorts of questions, like 'Is it gargling' (WTF) which I was happy to answer 'no' to!
Given the way it comes / goes I reckon it's electrical, loose connection and still feel it might be the secondary air pump / valve on that side.

Bit of a PITA, but I'm confident that once that's sorted and I replace the front tyres (If you fancy a laugh, google for Talon Triangle reviews. I managed to get them to start oversteering at about 25 mph on a roundabout!), I think I'm going to be a *very* happy bunny.

who the flying **** put Talon Triangles on a 400bhp car

Someone who decided that they didn't want to spend any more money, at a guess. Did I mention it was cheap?

But they really are ****. And I don't even claim to know anything about tyres

Honestly, I think you are taking the best approach, get the random misfire sorted and then immediately get ******* shot of those ditchfinder tyres!!!!

Say hello to my GTS when you are at Giallo mate.

Yep. I was going to the Josh lair, and finish the tyres at Brunty, but that seems like a bad idea now. Hopefully I can do both, but the tyres *have* to go.
