My old man had an ex drug runners boat, long story, if we opened it up and ran it on the plane it would empty both tanks in 40 mins but if he took it fishing with his mates at pootle speed both tanks would last him most of the summer.

It's why marinas are always full. No bugger can afford to get beyond the harbour walls!
One of my mates had a boat for three years at Brighton Marina, was down there every other weekend in the summer - never ever took it out.
Used it as a “posh” caravan.
Could never understand it personally……..

I'd say the majority rarely leave the marina in my experience

Fuel price rises have definitely reduced usage of powerboats in recent years, even diesel boats which are a lot more economic than petrol. I got out of my petrol powerboat several years ago because of this; the twin tanks held 600 litres and the twin 4.2 litre Mercruiser V6s on carbs were thirsty ... cars are a lot cheaper to play with!

Here'a quite an interesting video from Ian Tyrrell on Riva:

I think I would be able to get used to this. The fuel bill maybe not so much. Let's see how much is in the piggy bank to make a down payment.

I have done a bit of seafaring in powerboats, Catamarans and sailing boats

Powerboat was from Sardinia to Corsica in Princess with two 175hp engines

Sailing was in Catamaran along the French coast and out to Port Cros in the Îles d'Hyères

Also sailed out of Nassau in a 32ft yacht down the Exumas Islands

I did not like Nassau very much, but once through the islands it was really beautiful.

Although you had to keep a good lookout as you would get columns of Coral coming up to the surface, that would take the bottom of your boat out if you did not spot it.

I did wonder why I saw several aeroplanes landed on reefs but it seems the drug runners would steal an aeroplane load it with Drugs and crash land on a coral reef then it would be smuggled into Miami
