They're not as bad as Eurocarparts or DFS for sales but Black Cirles do tend to have frequent 'sales'. the code is usually mmmFLASH where mmm is the usual abbrev. for the month.

I have been tracking the price of rear michelins and they've steadily gone up from £420 for a pair in May to £470 in August. So best buy sooner than later.

I just bought 2x PS4 S from Asda Tyres last week as they came out cheapest.

They had the rear size available for the GT if that’s what you were after?

£20 voucher to claim back via Michelin and an all-in price fitted of around £485

What size are you after? 285/35/20 is the usual rear for a GT.

295/30/20 for QPV sports GT S.
Maybe its just that specific size. They do an 'MO' one, but that just for an SL63 only.

WIthout going too deep into it, have you tried a different sidewall profile? 295/30 might be a rare beast

Make sure with Mich's you make sure they are Generic and not MO (Mercedes) fitment otherwise your insurance may not pay out in a crash.

Yep, just checked the site, the Mich's are MO so you can't fit them to a Maserati. We are having big issues getting generics for Maserati and when our supplier stocks, we have 4 sets off him and store them.

Changing on eBay for twice the price according to our fitter.

The PS4 is going to be dropped and a new SuperSport 2 will replace it so stock is being run down.

That’s not good. Hopefully the new ones come out soon, I’m down to just under 3mm, I’ll expect an advisory on my MOT on Wednesday!

Quick maths, they were new at 43k miles, I think they come with 7.5mm, now on 57k miles and just under 3mm, so that’s 3000miles/mm. Should be ok for 6 months before illegal ! Not advisable through winter though……

What's the difference if MO compared to standard.
Same with the Porsche ones too?
Always thought they where the same, just acknowledgement that they where approved for Merc/Porsche etc.

Just checked again. The only generic rear tyre available for my car is a Goodyear supersport. Matching front not available.

It’s currently not possible to buy a set of 4 matching tyres, of ANY make…..

They say different construction, compounds etc. optimised to specific vehicles, I presume therefore tied in to electronic stability/ traction systems.

I suppose for example a 911 may have bespoke compounds due to odd weights over the rear(heavy) and front (light).

In most roadgoing circumstances in everyday use, probably not a huge issue in reality, but as conaero says, it’s a get out for your insurance potentially.

Has anyone got an example of where this has been an insurance problem?
I know insurance companies like an excuse to not pay, but would be suprised if that was one.
Size, speed rating and load rating would be a reason for them, but the Mercedes, ferrari, porche label, i can't see being a problem if they are of the same ratings mentioned above.
I know the manufacturer ones are tweaked, but not to the extent that it would be a problem and 90% of car owners don't even know about that.

I mean if one owner can put a full set of Michelin on, and another owner a pair of Ling Long on the front and Nangkang on the back and it be OK, then by comparison can't see it being a problem.

Completely agree with the above but thought this test was interesting. This guy seems pretty accurate and objective from other tests.

Big thanks for this. Just ordered new PS4S rear boots for the M3 and saved a few quid.

It’s the same with the 20’s on my Ghibli. 285 35 rear 245 40 front. Only Pirelli and Continental seem to come up as a matching set in Maserati flavour. I’ve still got the winters on from when I bought it and they’re Continental but MO fitment. To be fair for a winter tyre they’ve been fine in the warmer weather and I’m loathe to spend £900 to ditch the winters. I’ll run them through winter and change them next year if I can get any. I had the Goodyear super sports on my BMW 650 and they where a good tyre.

Yeah very interesting, and surprising how much development was done and how much they've changed the tyre! Apart from steering feel, they gained 2 seconds in the dry by sacrificing 2 seconds in the wet. To be honest, I'm suprised they can call it the same tyre name. Sounds like the BMW fitment might be worth a try if you don't drive in the winter much! Lol.

What did suprise me, was that they've spent all that time developing it, saying its perfect for that particular car..... Then said they're gonna put the exact same tyre on the 4wd version, which in my mind would need different characteristics again.

No idea but they are graded as manufacturer specific. They would be fine on a Maserati by any excuse to cancel an insurance claim, they will take it
