IMO, if you think you are wasting money by buying a Maserati, don't buy one. You buy one because you want one and if you take a hit when you sell it, so what? 80k for a nearly new GTS MC shift doesn't sound too bad to me, especially with a full Maser warranty. It depends how long you want to keep it; you might lose 30k over the next 3 years, but you would on any performance car. MP4s are being discounted by over 30k this year; imagine if you bought one last year! Also BF may be more desirable so when you sell you may keep a premium over similar cars. If you can negotiate a lower buying price to start with, you may end up quids in.

I guess I'm appealing to a slightly biased audience and appologies for resurrecting an old thread but... am I wasting my money on this: http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/...ranturismo-s-4-7-v8--mc-shift--2012-12/957337

My wife who has a physical aversion to white cars even likes the look of it in the flesh! I haven't owned a car since I was at school and I've managed to hose money on pretty much every bike I've owned. I'm almost resigned to losing 30k on this over the next few years, maybe even more as we're nearing the end of the models life. Any idea what this might have been new? I'm not embarrassed to admit, I've no idea what I'm doing.

If you are going to spend that sort of money, why not get an MC Stradale? The drool factor is even higher.

I have been toying with the idea but I want it as a tourer as much as anything. I certainly don't need four seats but worry that the more focused seats, harder suspension and inability to " turn down" the exhausts (is that correct?) might make it a bit tiring for long distance. That said, I haven't yet driven either.

The only tyhing for me is that you can get the latest face model for 80k......All the reviews have said its a better car than the 'older' model you are looking at....The only thing is you have to like the styling changes on the new model over the one you are looking at..........But with this model out I would imagine the older one will shed a bit of money of the next few years..........If you want the MRK1 GTS, if it was me, I would look for one around 50k to 60k.......What ever you do though you will enjoy her....

Yes, I think that this is what's nagging at me at the back of my mind. Originally I didn't like the new "face" but I've come round to it but even so, new, with a similar spec. I'm guessing well over 100k?

I reckon you'd be surprised at what you could get one for, depends what's physical at dealers. If you wanted to order your own spec it probably would be near £100k, but there'll be a deal to be had somewhere.

OK. Well, I'm test driving the older gts today. I'll ask them about the newer model and see what's about. Thank you, I'll stick my wallet back in my pocket for now.

Thats a lovely looking thing. I think they may be struggling to shift some of the later non face-lift cars.....when I first dowloaded the Autotrader app, I added a black GTS from Meridien to my 'garage'.....its still for sale!!! I think that was about 9 months ago.

Thanks Blox but I find it all a bit stressful to be honest. I read on here or PH that it's half the fun of buying a car test driving them all but as I've mentioned elsewhere I feel like an imposter in these places and it feels like doing my driving test all over again. Test driving bikes is a thankfully solo affair.

If you need any help in the Bristol/Wiltshire area just give me a shout. I've been driving Masers for about 7 years now and am pretty familiar with prices, what to look out for and who can be haggled down. For someone after a GranTurismo in January, it's got to be a complete buyer's market.

I drive past Dick Lovett Swindon every day, they have a few GranTurismo's and are pretty friendly so it should be easy to get a test drive.

I'm pretty sure there is a volume control on the Stradale... the only one I've ever seen and heard in the wild was so quiet I didn't even notice it until my son pointed it out. They definitely have a quiet mode.

Anyone here ever driven one? I'd love to know how they compare with the MC Shift.

Sold, to the fool whose heart rules his head. MS, thanks for the kind offer. I couldn't resist in the end. Been wanting one for a couple of years and though it's not the facelift, it looks amazing! Hillocks to the depreciation! Now I don't feel like an imposter on here any more either.

The one slightly odd thing about driving it that was annoying is I couldn't see how lovely it looked. Roll on next Saturday.

Congratulations. You only live once. I can see how you got drawn in when you saw the car in person, stunning colour.

Great news! Well done on letting heart rule head, exactly the way things should be.
