Beeps when reverse is selected

Hi guys, possibly a silly question...

When I select reverse (4.7s MC Shift) it does three loud beeps - why??

It needed a sensor replacing, so I had previously assumed it was a warning to say there was a fault, but it's now fixed and all the sensors work as expected. (No issues at all with the parking now, just confused by the beeps)

I think this reflects that the system is faulty - it does/did that on my GS when one of the sensors was out.

If its the same as the Gs / 4200 its just a warning you have selected reverse gear. Parking sensor beeps are a lot louder than the reverse gear warning.

Thanks - I did wonder if it's an MC shift thing, just to warn you reverse has been selected. If you go into first and then back into reverse, it doesn't do it. Just seems to be when you first select it as part of a parking manoeuvre.

Do you get the 'loud' bleeps all the time, or just after starting and engaging 'R'.

Yes you should have muted bleeps to say the car is in R, but the louder ones may as I said still be a fault with the system, or if just after starting they could be the tracker.

Just when reverse is selected for the first time in a parking manoeuvre

Anyone know what 3 quiet beeps are for soon after start up (possibly linked to reverse)? They sound distant as it some system your not meant to hear is beeping!

If it's a fault then it's a fault mine had throughout my ownership. As others have said, it's a 'watch yourself and don't forget to look over your shoulder before you hoof it' warning.

Its to warn you that it was parked in gear. Beeps when you turn it off in gear as well on GS/4200 very quiet beeps. Same sounder as the ice warning.

Actually that varies. I can't recall which way it goes but older ones beep if you park in gear newer ones beep if you park in neutral. Or the other way :D

Park in neutral with a maserati handbrake ? Very trusting if your in a 4200 or GS they seize on in the rain and are rubbish if its dry.

You are correct - mine only beeps if I leave it in neutral when it's in the garage with the handbrake off!
