Becker Head Unit

Hi

Sorry to burden you with what is probably a very stupid/lazy question:

Having seen this:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_808755_langId_-1_categoryId_165474

I would like to swap with the existing unit.

Halfords Truo branch have never worked on a GS before, surprise surprise.

The tech guy there wants to know if the Becker unit will have an ignition wire already connected.

If anyone can provide info for me to take to the shop re swapping the unit I would be really grateful.

Thanks in advance

Its very straight forward and yes, it does have an ignition wire attached as standard.

Cheers Matt, only sticking point is that there are no release keys in the owners pack, have you any idea where I can get some or what else might fit?

what's it worth woody? :)
it has the sim card wotsit in the glove box and I guess a satnav ariel which is way beyond my understanding re removal :)
seeing as you've been so hospitable in my short time on the forum, you can have it FOC on the proviso that you tell me what to do with all the spare wires I have left now I have the new unit in.....
pm me your address and I'll post it out to you

I have a brand new never fitted gps ariel for the GS sat on the shelf at work £20 delivered, PM me if you want it.

Stock GS head unit is not worth much £50 is a fair price in my book.

Matt,
if I post a couple of images can you let me know what the spare wires relate to?
I'm guessing that I have a gps, a cd changer and a gsm lead spare. there is one brown wire which looks like an earthing cable that was connected to the frame, it's all a bit confusing.
the new unit is working well but it's a bit like the time I took apart my dads Betamax unit and tried to put it back together again!

By all means but it's difficult to work out wiring first hand let alone from a photo. I'll do what I can.

There is usually a wiring diagram on the top of the head unit and in the handbook.

Blimey, thats a kind offer.

As I'm, well, clueless when it comes to meddling with the GS, I'm afraid I can't help with the wiring! I'll happily give £50 to a charity of your choice though if someone else (Matt, by the looks of things) provides you with a solution.

No probs either way woody, just pm me the address and I'll send a pack out to you....I won't be going back to the original unit now that I have BT streaming and hands free :)

you can just sort me out with to delivery cost, unless you have an account with any couriers? I'll DHL it through my account....

Woody just caught me in a weak moment, high on the euphoria of successfully fitting a car stereo and dumb struck by the power and grace of my new car.
I am no longer a car owner, I am now a custodian; which makes the whole scuffing thing even more annoying....

I'm going to try find a 5th wheel as a spare. Not too worried about the cost cos I think the car is worth it :)
