I'm happy to report there are a few on here that sound like that now, and I'm hoping there are going to be a few more! ;)

Who's got a great sounding 3200?

There are a few on here with aftermarket back boxes, Larini's , QS etc but based on the two IHI turbo's being in the way you won't ever get the sound of the 4.2 NA engine unleashed. Best you can do is go straight through and race pipes.

I'm sure with some effort you could get close... With today's technology in exhaust systems. The only issue is it would likely take a while with experimentation to get near and someone would have to fund that. And how many owners would actually want to live with it?!

If enough 3200 owners clubbed together I'm sure we could comeup with a solution as for the 4200.

I would buy both the 3200 and 4200 if I could because the sound is beautiful on both! :)

I have after market back boxes, not sure how epic a noise it is, i will try to get a video posted!I like the muted burble from the turbos, but then i had 13 years with 2 nearly straight through TVR's so the 3200 was a relief.

There are systems there, there is a full Larini system with cats and also race pipes with no cats but you still have two blowers in the way! You won't get anywhere near the same volume as a 4200.

You should've got a 4200 Phil :numberone:

So how about a system with only the head cats in place, and straight through for the rest of it? Should sound better.
Also have you seen the price of the centre section for the exhaust? OMG!!!

Yes Neil mine has centre section straight through, it removes the silencer which doubles as a cat. I am on the lookout for a full Larini system with race pipes.

Don't forget that the extra litre capacity will also make a difference to the noise. Bigger bangs to start with.

The naturally aspirated 4200 loses lots of bhp though its open exhaust..hence to noise
whereas the old 3200 engine uses the spent gases to spin the turbo's just like modern F1 engines.. fairly quite
That older design was a lots more efficient and the conservative 370bhp power output they choose was more down to warranty restrictions than anything else
