Frank, as mentioned on my 1st post, mine was 74Ah, but it was the older one, with the caps you could fill in with destilled water/oil. Must be the original one,as it was made in Italy.

Talked to my engineer today, he suggested that i can use a smaller one, 65-70Ah, cause the older technology batteries should be more Ah to be equal to newer.

I think the difference is on the start up power, the old was 440, but it should be 650-700.

The cold-cranking rating is the most important for these cars so 700 A is ideal and 750 if you can find a suitable one. I have a Bosch 70 Ah rated at 750 A cold cranking and I never have start issues even after sitting two weeks.

Nikos, once they have gone you are just better getting a new one, rather than wasting time and risking not being able to start your car. Cold Crank is important, the charge rate only needs to be the same as the output of the alternator, or slightly higher.

Welcome back Rob! Got a new one today, Bosch, 74A, 680 starter. Heard the larinis again...

I doubted, cause i had no idea with all these Marellis on, what could happen in a faulty battery choice, this is the reason i started the topic.

Hi Nikos,
The brand is not that important, Maserati do not make batteries, so you can choose any good quality make and it should be fine. Glad you are back with the noise mate!!

I have installed the comfort indicator panel on the inside of the trunk lining near the battery door flap. Then it's just simple matter of plugging in the comfort connector. Nothing to undo or unscrew and it also shows you the approximate state of your battery. Takes seconds to connect and go.

Hi Neil,

I just changed my battery last week, and this thread was very helpful, so thanks to all... I also have a CTEK conditioner but mine is on a dongle (with traffic lights). I really like your connector the way it fits into the boot lining, can you remember where you got it...I would like to swap mine over for one of these,,, its a much better looking fit!! PM me if you can remember please...

Thanks,

Ozzie,

Hi Neil,

Which model CTEK charger are you using? My 3200 came with a Comfort Connector installed, I just need the charger.

Cheers

I've got the Multi XS4003 which has a couple of extra settings for cold weather and deep conditioning. So far it's paid for itself as I was able to deep cycle the "dead" battery in my 911 where other chargers I used could not bring it back to life sufficiently for it to be reliable.

Regards,

Neil
