battery isolator

Guys.
If I fit an isolator that kills the battery completely on my 3200 will there be any side effects?
Ok,I'll need to re set the clock and obviously I won't have an alarm, which I can mitigate with a self contained ultrasonic unit-sender and receiver but is there an onboard alarm battery that, if run down, will cause any issues when I reconnect?
Any other problems this might cause?

I've done a search and can't find the answer, sorry if I've missed it.

Cheers.

Don't forget you'll need to recal the seats, climate control and the throttle pedal. The other things is the windows, easy to bash them or leave them open in the rain when there is no power.

The ECU will also have been zero'd so it will relearn over the day.

This will cause it to hunt and overfuel initially.

Apart fron that and the items above you should not have any issues. If you do turn it off again to reset.

Is there a reason you're fitting an additional battery isolator or does your not have the factory one fitted? Or is this for a competition car?

It's worth checking as all I have seen have one, it's the black knob above the battery towards the front of the car. I have heard that early examples did not have them though.

If fitting an isolator, I would go OEM, contact David Askew for a used one.

Mark,

Is this so to ensure your battery doesn't run down? Would a trickle charger be a possibility?

Yes Richard, longer term solution as I need to get a power supply to the car first, the isolator is an interim measure.

Climate control recal will be done automatically when the battery is reconnected and the key is turned to ON. No user intervention is required.

The manual procedure is as follows:

Key to OFF. left control knob to LO, centre and right knob to AUTO. Press and hold the RECIRC and ECON buttons at the same time and turn key to ON. Release the two buttons when the little LED in them starts flashing. Look at the centre display between the tach and speedo dials and see if it brings up any error codes.

Neil
