Working in a small village called Turweston in between Buckingham and Brackley hence close vicinity to Silverstone , Happened to venture into the local pub lunchtime the Stratton Arms ( not a usual habit for me but so glad i did ) the pub is adorned with historic racing photo's of the local hero Barry whizzo Williams drivng a multitude of cars but more importantly several Massers of which he owns a couple himself , after chatting whilst eating to the Landlord who kindly arranged for me to meet him tomorrow , turns out he lives 2 doors away from the house where im fitting a new kitchen.

Just done some research on the guy and very very credible guy cant wait for tomorrow

regards loz

He used to do driver instruction for the Evo register at track days. A fantastic driver by all accounts and a nice chap as well.

Hi Loz,

I have met this gentlemen a couple times and on both occasions at Silverstone attending an evening do, which Lewis Evans invited me and Pauline too. The reason i remember him so well is that he had great stories to tell but also his book on him and his racing days is written by my name sake Paul Lawrence.

The first time i met him was when he sat at our table at an event where the guest speaker was Jackie Oilver the Le Mans driver, which was excellent! The second event at Silverstone was a fund raiser for Damon Hill which he also attend.

If my memory is good he raced Mini's, plus others!

So not that he would remember me or Lewis but the event he would do and also I remember listening to him speak at the Chelsea Legends event a couple of years ago,

cheers

Well spent this afternoon getting absolutely no work done , but what a productive afternoon it was , spent a good few hours idly chatting about all things petrol with the man himself , Barry or Whizzo ( sounds like something from a fifties comic book ) as he likes to be called knocked on the back door of where im working withing minutes of returning from the Goodwood Revival , all i can say is what a lovely lovely man and still at 70 years of age very active and still very very much the petrol head , he's offered to teach/give tuition at the next track meet ( possibly llandow next ) , foc , me thinks a right character at the dinner table for the night before meal ,

Yet to check the dates with him as he was best part knackered after a very hectic weekend mix of alcohol and petrol , crying shame he's not too pc literate otherwise he would come on here ,

He must be a brilliant guy to chat to, we must try and involve him a bit if he is a Maser owner.

Another twist i found out yesterday , the ex husband of the pretty divorcee im working for is none other than Warrick Pugh , team leader for the Maclaren F1 team for Jenson Button , the doomed marriage obviously a casualty of the lifestyle differences , shame another interesting guy to chat to if i had the chance
