Authorised service centres?

I've just realised that to ensure your Maserati Warranty is covered you must get your car serviced at an authorised service centre?

Is Autofficina in Surrey an authorised service centre?

Or do you need to take it to one of the big boys like HR Owen or Maranello?

And is that why the indies are cheaper?

I thought that was illegal or outlawed now. I thought any manufacturer's warranty should be supported by using any service centre following the correct service schedule using genuine manufacture parts.

I also thought that wasn't the case now as long as they are done to Manufacturers specifications.

It's 100% not the case however I wouldn't put it mast Maserati to use that incorrectly. I'd certainly look only to reputable indies such as Voicey, Marios, Miles, Phil Kyle etc.

I think it comes under "block exemption rules" that remove the monopoly on main dealer servicing to maintain warranty - providing that the main dealer service schedule is fully met and only genuine main dealer parts are used along with main dealer oils and fluids - viscosity etc.

For the sake of resale and warranty in the first five years (assuming you have the two year extended warranty), I would use a main dealer. After that it's who suits you best.

I had quite a few things replaced under extended warranty from an a/c compressor/exhaust back box at the top end down to wheel centres/rusting screws at the low end. I could not be bothered with the hassle or time in getting that past Maserati if the car was at an independent.

There are some main dealers who will match and beat the price of some specialists so if I were you I'd ring for a quote from say 2 of the best specialists and then see if they can beat or match it. Out of warranty no take it to a specialist.

I'm inclined to agree with bigbob. During the warranty period, I kept my Mercedes under the main dealer (still have 13 years later - but that's a different story). The number of patches and upgrades on the electronics is a list on an A4 page - these are automatically applied at main dealer - but would not be at an independent. The main ones related to the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) which is brake-by-wire system on the E-Class. The brake pedal doesn't operate the master cylinder directly. It has no connection with the master cylinder. There were numerous teething troubles with it that required upgrsdes and patches to the software. Some failed outside of warranty and were replaced FOC by MB under their "Goodwill Repair".

So yes, during the warranty period, I'd also go main dealer route. For Maserati? Outside of main dealer, independent every time - I am fortunate I have Marios at Autoshield on my doorstep. I doubt main dealer will have technicians that know a GS.

You can go to any garage with any car for a service and still keep the warranty, all the kids have Vauxhalls from new, although they kept the manufacturers service (which was to be fair a reasonable price) they are allowed to go elsewhere, it cost £25 for a warranty claim if serviced outside the franchised dealer ship for a 'sanity check' no restriction on using Vauxhall parts either so long as the work was done.
Same applied to my Mazda after 2 years new front brake pads required, £300 fitted by them, £45 from Euro car parts (Pagid) and 1 hour to fit.

Having said that 'software upgrades' free and automatic at a dealer.
