This is the updated view...not good reading, the trend continues, confirmed today that UK is at 233 deaths

So looking at today's figures........... with just TWO deaths today then we are starting to lag way behind Italy in the hockey stick curve. 104 deaths in last four days. At the same point (14 days ahead of UK) Italy was 631, we are 337. Almost HALF of them at the same point. Good news.
Does everyone concur?

Personally I think it's a bit early to make that assertion. Where are you getting your figures BTW? I make it 158 in the last 3 days (21/22 and 23)

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/

Plus 2 (minimum) today

(just spotted this
alert
85 new cases and 2 new deaths in the United Kingdom in Scotland. Figures for the rest of the UK have yet to be released [source] [source] [source])

Although I'd very much like to be positive about it

I hope so, Phil. I'd like to see a few more days of data, but this gives us reason to be cautiously optimistic.

The number of coronavirus deaths in the UK has risen to 422, officials have confirmed.
Yesterday the figures stood at 6,650 people confirmed as having caught the coronavirus in the UK.
The number has now risen to 8,077 as of 1pm today, the NHS said.

I make that just under a 5% ...................................... in regards to Italy we just possibly might be a head of the curve fingers crossed it stays that way ..............tributes to the NHS

I see the new rules didn't stop people piling on to tubes again this morning, they are going to have to find a better way to manage this if they are going to get control. A few more restrictions here but still not the lockdown that the UK has implemented but more likely to be followed

India has approx 1.3 billion so the potential for major problems are huge there. It is also unique in that each state in India is effectively their own mini Govt answerable to New Delhi ultimately. I think that they have recorded 420 odd deaths but who knows. I think they are expecting this to go wild big time and that’s why they have effectively locked down 1.3 billion. Lots of poor and homeless who live on the streets. Not sure how that will work for them.

a friend is going to his mother in laws funeral today, no service, no public get together , 12 people only allowed in the crematorium chapel who must be 2m apart , this was what they were told on friday , could be different today
Each place of worship / crematorium may interpret the rules of social distancing-differently/ as they see fit as may the funeral director. But there are no government restrictions in place yet, and funerals were specifically excluded from the additional restrictions announced yesterday (nothing new today either).
It won’t be long though - restriction on the number of attendees is in place across most of Europe already.

I jumped the gun on deaths, worldometer.com website said two dead early on but that changed later to 87 dead. Sorry to get anyones hopes up. I need to recalculate. We will still be a way beyond Italy but not by as much.

So now they re announced 87 deaths today. We are starting to lag behind Italy in the hockey stick curve but not by as much as I thought. 189 deaths in last four days. At the same point (14 days ahead of UK) Italy was 631, we are 422. Sorry to get everybodys hopes up (and mine), not as good as I thought.
Does everyone concur?

Oh my God, BBC news 6pm (now) What the **** are the experts thinking...............The tube trains are rammed with people.
Sadiq Khan you are the Mayor, get this fixed. The longer this is allowed to happen the longer the whole lot of us are in serious danger.
I can't believe what I just saw.

If this Metro mess of dodgy use of 'could be', 'may' and 'prevalent', plus not being able to spell 'hospital', is sort-of right that that is excellent news, as it suggests that the recovery rate is very high, the hospitalisation rate is very low, and the strategy of letting just about everybody get it, but fairly slowly, might actually turn out to be working.

Maybe.
