.....I don't much care for Trump's words but I did enjoy his retort to the journalist yesterday who called him a racist for referring to this as a Chinese virus. They have a lot to answer for and that's before we consider the level of govt sponsored hacking of our institutions and businesses. Someone once told me there is no word in Mandarin for 'guilt'....

Well, fine, the virus originated in China, and the government of China has behaved badly in all sorts of ways, but it is still the case that when the President goes out of his way to call it 'the Chinese virus' he is at minimum encouraging xenophobia and at worst legitimising attacks by morons on people of asian ethnicity.

Some people are just nice. My dad ran his own business after being made redundant, one day his accountant said you’ll never be a millionaire as you’re not enough of an a-hole.

Sure enough during the previous recession he mortgaged the house and borrowed against his retirement to keep his staff paid. Eventually they had to sell up and move, he’s still working at 80.
My late father back during the 3 day week tried to do the same.
It didn't work and we ended up on one of the hardest Council Estates in the West Midlands.
Everybody somehow knew our story and that was a harsh couple of years.
Fair play he picked himself up and got back on top but was never the same.

Agree with you there mate. Makes NO sense to me. If they are neglected they shouldn’t be allowed to stay in the home.

There are marginal cases. In the school where I am a Governor we have children who are loved and cared for by vague and incompetent parents. The school does a fine job of making sure that they are fed and positively engaged with every day, and then they go home to a problemmatic, but not abusive environment, often with social worker support. This is not ideal, but taking these children away from their parents and putting them in a institition (or even fostering them with strangers), would be much worse.

It IS the China virus though, if it wasn't for their weird eating habits, raw bats... mmm mmmm then we wouldn't have had this in the first place. It needs to stop for sure. I loved Trumps little "Chiiii na" comment personally. Snowflakes gonna cry though.

Richard Branson needs to take note of what this Good Guy is doing especially as I'm sure Mrs C'S boss probably has nowhere near the wealth of RB.
Too late, my nephew who worked for VA for years and even had his picture taken with Branson on an aircraft just a few months back, has been laid off. Initially it was for 8 weeks unpaid leave or redundancy. So with a 'gun to his head' ( metaphorically speaking!) he took redundancy to get some money to live off over the next 3 months. Really sad because he loved his job.

Sadly, Mark, you're right. This casual Sinophobia that we're seeing crop up - including here - is pretty ignorant and offensive.

Spanish flu wasn't Spanish. One theory is that it originated in a Kansas poultry farm. We'll likely never know.

The US Senator blaming MERS on China was interesting wasn’t it. That bit of China in the Middle East with all the camels.

the latest from the Mrs who's busting my balls with updates and as further proof that China is a growing international power is that apparently 70% of the raw materials for meds such as paracetamol, antibiotics etc comes from China then shipped out to india for production, much as we hate it looks like we need China for the supply of many things

you may well be right Mark, in terms of the potential side effects, and I have nothing against Chinese individuals, they are not responsible for the acts of their state. Not taking the opportunity to hold China publicly accountable in order to avoid inciting morons is not acceptable from my perspective.

It drives me nuts when ignorant or persuasive people make strident, confident and woefully wrong, dangerous or alarmist proclamations that other people believe.

From this day forth I have decided to become alarmistphobic and shall turn irrationally against anyone who is annoyingly negative, casually ignorant or thinks theirs is the only voice that matters. I am wankpotist.

Wife orders household food weekly and shops Tesco online. They now have a max three of any one items limit on ANY PRODUCT. She could therefore only get me three bottles of my favourite wine. That won't last me three days. Disgraceful! :)

Shock p you buy wine from Tescos
