Just over a month in and here’s my impressions of my first Range Rover.

It’s very very comfortable, great seats, (simply wafts along on the air suspension) and it swallows vast amounts of luggage with ease. Great for our recent trip. It’s nice being in a higher driving position once again.

Stick it in sports dynamic and it goes like a stabbed rat with a great supercharge whine and a decent exhaust note. More than quick enough. Maybe I’ll put the G-Meter and stopwatch to use one day.

I love the pano roof, cooling seats and the sound system is phenomenal. Apple car play is excellent. The self park is even more reliable than the Mercs and hasn’t let me down yet. Cameras everywhere and a top down 360 view make low speed manoevres easy.
The adaptive cruise and Lane assist is excellent tho it doesn’t steer like the Merc used to.

Remote start is a very surprising and useful feature over here - use the app, start the car from a distance and get it cooling down before you get into it.
V useful in our heat if you’re out and are returning to a parked car.

The complex (at first) double info screens are actually quite simple to use in practice. I’d read about them being temperamental and Have had them throw a wobbly once.
I reckon you need to give em time to boot up- so I’ve now developed a starting technique where I do nowt while the retracting roof blind folds away. No isssues at all since.

I thought it would be good but it’s exceeded
my expectations. Mrs loves it and it would appear many of the public do too. We’re regularily approached for our thoughts and for compliments.

Well done RR- so far.

So, little update.....extended warranty.

Shopped around and secured this.
“The policy replicates the manufacturer's warranty (subject to the terms of the PDS), has no excess or individual claim limits (up to vehicle value), is transferable to new owners if sold privately and can be cancelled with pro rata refunds if no claims have been made. You can service the vehicle at any licensed mechanical workshop or dealer, your choice, and you must continue to service in accordance with the log book schedule”
Four years, Aud$2615, or £1422. (Two years more Range Rover servicing were paid for by prior owners)

That’s less than a £ a day for one of the most unreliable cars on the planet.

Thanks, i’ll Take it.

Thought I’d provide a little update after 1yr 4 months of ownership.

It’s superb. Quick, very comfortable and swallows luggage with ease for those trips away. Everything I hoped it would be.

It’s also been 100% reliable which is most unrangie like. So far my extended warranty has proved to be a waste of cash!

Gtechniq keeps her fresh…..hasn’t been washed since August.

Highly recommend.Kel loves it too so It’s a keeper.94851

Glad to hear you’re happy with it, Wattie.

I’ve now had mine for 3yrs 9mths and 38,000 miles without any complaints whatsoeve. I’ve just changed tyres for the first time as well. 37k on a set is impressive.

Despite it’s reliability I have extended the warranty mainly because it’s a fully loaded spec’d car and any of it could be costly.

Have you tried it off-road? Truly astonishing.

Delighted with it.
I did suggest to Kel we take it along the beach but she was worried her heels would get ruined by the sand.
Fair point.
Simple answer no.

So it finally happened, the Velar developed a problem!
To be fair it let me know in advance.

2hr drive to Noosa. 4 day park up…….boot wouldn’t open via the sensor, on return journey home.
Opened drivers door ”Battery low, please start car”. Which I did.
Drove home. Parked up.
Same message 3 days later…….mmmmmmmnnnn.
3.5 years from the battery. (Mainly Short stop/start journeys…..all toys on)

called RR…..knowing they’d fleece me.
Sorry Mr Watt……we can’t fit you in till 28th August!
( wow, that’s a lot of repairs…….or servicing).
No thanks I’ll go elsewhere as this ain’t gonna last till then.

Local battery guy came to me, removed battery which was in the boot.

I kid you not I’ve never seen so many cables and metal tie down straps.…( and my mrs is quite kinky) …quite a palava.
Connected another battery to the “code“ battery under the bonnet to maintain electronics.
45 mins, aud$401.000 ( I suspect half of a RR bill)

She’s working perfectly, once more.
