Anyone installed a Parrot Mki9100 in a 4200

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had installed a Parrot mki9100 into a 4200, and if they had any installation instructions?

I'm considering saving some money and doing it myself. Dave's guide give me ample instructions for that:
http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/679-NIT-units-or-What-s-in-the-arm-rest-of-a-4200

My question relates to the wiring, and whether it's simply plug and play (which Newton seems to suggest in the baove thread)? I briefly spoke to a decent car audio installer and they said a "SOT" cable would be required.

I already have a Parrot CK3100 installed in my car, so, I was told, a SOT cable will already be present. But it might not be usuable for the purposes of the new mki9100.

Any helpd appreciated.

Thanks,
R

R - cannot answer the question re fitting a Parrot to the 4200. However, I did have one fitted, by a recommended expert, to a Volvo. It was some job - the most fiddly part was getting the cable runs behind the dash and placing them without damaging the dash/trim. It took the fitter 3 hours or so. Like you it was a mki9100 I had fitted.

May not help, but just my experience.

Echo exactly what Damon says. Had one installed in my RR to replace the old in built phone set up, same time/effort and it was certainly not something I'd consider doing myself. Was actually surprised that it was so cheap to get it done when I saw the work involved.

Interesting, I appreciate the honesty even though its discouragement. I'll have a think and a chat with the installer I've got in mind if I don't do it.

I had to delete my Parrot to install my Loudlink - used same connector block on NIT.

Is there is a splitter available?
Does anyone have both running successfully?

I installed mki9100 in my GS. It wasn't easy because I wanted it to be perfect so I removed the side trim, A pillar in order to remove the top dash. Feed the microphone and display units wiring from the back of the radio to the A pillar , tugged it inside the roof lining and fixed it behind on top of the rear view mirror. The wiring wasn't long enough so i bought extra wire and soldered them to get extra length. With the wireless control, I sticked it near the centre console. The whole process wasn't easy but looks perfect to me .

Is your Loudlink one with line in? If so, can't see any reason you couldn't use that for the Parrot and run them both. Otherwise, you'd simply use the Parrot's own amp and connect in line with the speakers.

As far as I can *tell*, at least.

Thanks for the info, really helpful.

Where did you put the LED display? I'm wondering where to put it.
The controls are wireless so I can move them around.
The mic I will either put in the A-Pillar or on the dash in the corner.

I have just had my parrot taken out of the 4200, it had been fitted badly and I think it blew the fuses on one channel, so only one side speakers work now. That's my next job, fix the system so that it works and then investigate if I can re-install the parrot, without problem. I left the mic installed on the A pillar drivers side.

Just to be different...

My 4200CC came with a parrot system installed but I don't know how to take it out.
As I don't use the phone [this is a weekend car] I'd prefer to tidy up the cabin per original.
Anyone know what to disconnect without wrecking the Italian electrics in the process?

Here is the photo of the display unit as well as the mic behind it.

Well that wasn't as bad as I expected. About 2 hours 30 minutes, going *very* carefully.
Will be posting a full how to once I've checked that I've not introduced any nasty rattles or squeaks. Have a few issues around the mic and display mounting that I want to iron out before finishing it, but it all works really well.
