welcome Neil, sometimes the waiting can be just as exciting as getting the car. Hope you enjoy the forum, I got my car a few months back and still get excited when I see it sitting in the garage.

Hi Neil,
I suppose I should be noted as another member from the Antipodes; however in my case I am located in Melbourne rather than Perth.
I doubt the UK members would appreciate the distance that separates the two cities; suffice to say it is close to 4 hours in a commercial aircraft.
Neil; have you found an Australian forum of any worth?
I am a member of a UK based Lancia forum and it is sensational; I get the impression already that this one is exactlty the same.
I will share details of my car once it arrives; however the final details are still being sorted in the UK, so it probably won't reach our shores until the New Year.
Regards,
Stephen

Hi Stephen and a warm welcome to the forum. You join a growing band of Antipodean brothers and your comment about Sports Maserati is so nice to read. Glad you're liking what you're reading. Please do let us know further details of your car when she arrives and some photo's would be great! :) Regards, Miles.

Hi Stephen,

I've not been able to find any forums other than the aussieexotics which covers all marques of supercars but nothing remotely as informative as this site. Maseratis are still very much an unknown in Australia and have really only just started reaching the hands of enthusiasts rather than the well- heeled. The upside is that when you drive by in one it tends to draw as many stares a a Ferrari.

Numbers speak for themselves they are rarer and less common than Ferrari's , hence the exclusivity and mystique but shssssss dont tell everyone

I know what you mean Andrew, I have a picture of the car as wallpaper on my computer, iPhone and iPad. However the wait is starting to take it's toll and Im looking dorward to being able to walk out to the garage, turn on the light and see it sitting there.

Can I ask how are you arranging the importing from the UK?? Is it one you already owned for the required 12 months when you were maybe in the UK or is it through a company that will arrange all the necessary re-compliancing etc etc?? I live in Brisbane and really want a 3200 or maybe a 4200 but we both know how ridiculous they are cost-wise over here!!! If you have any info you'd care to share then that'd be awesome ta! I am loving this forum though - great people with great knowledge!!!
Cheers

Hi Gary,
I have taken the plunge through a licensed RAWS engineer based here in Melbourne.
I had quite a few chats with Jim, visited him a couple of times, and was lucky enough to see some of the inventory coming in.
He regularly has 3200GT, 4200 and Ferrari 360 Modenas in his workshop.
The company name is LCS.
He tends to work for people throughout Australia, as a previous Assetto Corsa I missed out on in the UK ended up in Perth.
I have imported a car previously, so I have looked after getting it out here.
Basically you pay them to arrange the Australian Compliance, but if you prefer they will do everything inlcuding finding a car, arranging shipping etc.
Jim can be contacted on jimdotcom1@gmail.com
Alternatively you can shoot me a PM if you need more help or have any other queries.
Regards,
Stephen.
PS. Sorry for the slow reply.

G'day Andrew,

Indeed it has arrived! I've alread done 500 trouble free miles on it and apart from being the thirstiest car I've ever owned it's been an absolute joy so far. My dad had it for a week whilst I was away on a business trip and I had to all but prise the keys out of his hand to get it back.

I've replaced the crappy aftermarket stereo with a Becker Grand Prix and installed a set of alloy pedals from ultimatepedals. That's pretty much it apart from replacing the flaking chrome vents and giving the whole car a top to bottom detail.

Here's the thread on Day1 of ownership http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/2738-Santa-came-early

Regards,

Neil
