...I understand that they are eaten in some parts of the globe. Apparently, the same parts that eat guinea pigs. I further have heard it said that they are rather tasty. I will not be finding out...

Especially at the moment...we have total anosmia from another round of the COVID. Can't smell or taste a d@mn thing...!

This is the Suri...his name when we got him was "Murphy"...here he's currently referred to as "Lambo." It's a story, but not terribly fascinating.

yes...must have at least a pair; they will literally die from loneliness, even amongst other animals. They can be left to their own devices, with automatic waterers and enough hay, although we always have a hand with things here if we are going to be away more than 24 hours.

The mating ritual, as i think I mentioned, can be somewhat disturbing...it involves the male humming, loudly, until the female decides to be willing and...er, assume the position. And then the male...continues to hum. For like 20 minutes. Or more...until the Deed is done and dismount occurs.

Once pregnant, or pushed far enough, the girls will not respond to the humming very favorably...spitting generally ensues, although I've witnessed some rather sharp kicks as well...
20 minutes!!!!!
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET MY MRS KNOW!!!!

That sounds weird. Are you suggesting that you might be the biological father of one of these fine creatures, Phil. I know we all get lonely at times, but FFS.

Dennis, they're gorgeous and I'm pleased to report that as far as I can see none look remotely like Phil. Now, if the foal (foal?) of any of the pregnant ones comes out wearing a beret, waving a red flag and opposing free enterprise then you have a problem.

Thanks, all...will keep an eye on our cigarette holders and pastries, as a preventive. Though I have to admit to a long, slow drift leftward since my youth...!

More trivia: the babies are called "cria" and the mating ritual involves the female "kushing," so...

I've noticed Phil humming in the past. That man worries me.

As for a drift leftward... you have nothing on Comrade Phil "Karl Marx" Wilkinson. His cat's called Miaow Zedong. Just saying...

Some things are a bridge too far! I did not see a thread dedicated to the glories of the Yugo or Trabant or Lada or Geely, but I am sure there are depths I haven't yet plumbed...
