Well guys , the trip to France this weekend will be my last Maserati outing.
I have had a very enjoyable 4 months break but now have to report back for work on the 11th of next month.
I am going out to Den Haag & will spend the next 12-14 months working on our new project at the Shell refinary in Rotterdam.
this is actually the posting I was hoping for as its only a short flight home & having lived in holland for 12 years its almost like going home.
the alternatives were 2 years in P.N.G., where I think the still eat each other, or 3 years in Columbia , where they shoot each other.

I have enjoyed the meets I have been to , enjoyed meeting you all. I hope that I can still attend anything thats arranged that co-incides with my visirs home , but Den Haag is very popular with Ros , so she will be on more flights than me.

The spyder will be put into hibernation so any advise on what to do to ensure she will remain in good health while I am away will be welcomed.

Hibernating a car:
  1. Disconnect battery and remove from the car
  2. Remove the spartk plugs, and spray a light oil in the bores, replace plugs
  3. make sure the handbrake is completely off
  4. treat the leather with conditioner, but dont buff it off
  5. leave the windows down 5mm
  6. use a quality car cover
  7. spray any crome with WD40 or vaseline them
  8. make sure you put mice traps under and around the car
  9. treat the hood, like the seats
  10. run the car out of fuel

On restarting, new batter or leave yours on a conditioner, Solar trickles work the battery the best
Remove the plugs and re oil the bores and leave overnight
Turn the engine over with the plugs removed
refuel
Refit, start and leave to idle for 20 mins without touching the accelerator, this resets the ECU parameters.

Very useful Conaero.....might be worthwhile putting in maintenance section?

I am sure there are a few more, but that should be the bulk of it. I have heard cased of rats nesting in stood cars and they sh!t everywhere and eat through the wiring and seats, they love foam.

fuel turns to jelly over time, probably takes more than a year, probably more like 5-10 years.

Hope it all goes well Rob. How often will you get back to blighty? If all else fails, you never know, we may all drive over to Den Haag! I'd happily put my name at the top of that list!

Apart from "lend it to Tridentless Paco" the only thing I would add to the list is to get it on axle stands or make sure you over inflate the tyres to ensure no flat spots when you come back - just remember to adjust them before you take her back out!

Good luck with the new job, Rob!
