yeah Andy, i have had the 75 for around 6 years now. Its being completely restored at the moment to a fast road setup buts proving to be a massive project. 2 years so far and prob not half way through. Time is limited but im not in any rush.

Would love a 155 in rosso again always looking but low millage examples are rare.

I still look for 155's and 75's as a potential track car. Me and a mate are going halfes on a track car towards the end of this year, going to be a 155, 75 or Clio 172.

The V6 75 probably makes the better track car as its RWD and has the grunt to puch you around at a fair old wack.

The 155 is ok, but in my opinon is better as a road car than a track weapon.

Clio wouldnt even figure once you heard the noise a V6 75 makes :) possibly the best engine ever made!

Yeah that is why i want a 75, noise and tart it up in some nice DTM stickers. Finding a nice 75 is a job and a half though.

Wish I bought my old company 146Ti as a track car, the company disposed of it for nothing only £1,500 cash straight into the MD's back pocket. The company buys the cars not lease and it had no or little value on the company books when I changed it.
At the time it was only 5 years old, and just short of 70k on the clock.
I kick myself every time I remember it!

I havent any on my computers at home and the car is stored in a unit back in bristol. I am planning when it warms up a bit to take some pics and properly record the process. I do have some of the before pics but again on a laptop in storage so will need to dig it all out.

The alfa75.com forum is a good place to look at similar projects going on.

Mine is still at a very early stage having been stripped to rolling shell and had all the rust exposed ready for shipping to these guys

http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/for-cars.html#shells

Once the car is back it needs to go to welding firm for metal to go back in....any recommendations welcome as Im still researching this.

Once that is completed back to SP for sealing then im left with a virtually new shell thats practically rust proof.

Then the fun starts and I get to add all the new and recon parts that I'm slowly collecting when they come up.

The best bit is going to be sending the engine here for full rebuild and upgrade to 3.5l and a set of trumpets.

The end result will hopefully look like this

http://goodoldvalves.tumblr.com/post/1168547131/alfa-romeo-75-3-5-v6-and-an-alfetta-possibly-the

No time frame for finishing although i think if its on the road and ready to play in the next two years I would have done well.

Thanks for the invite Andy but I dont really want to take the 650 on to a track, trying to keep it in showroom condition and wouldnt want any marks or stone chips occuring....not that 80mph on the motorway wouldnt do the same thing. Also tyres are around 1200 a set and having just put some new rubber alll round dont fancy burning them up jsut yet.

Sounds like a great day though, can remember i was very tempted last year when I was flirting with a GTV CUP. Hopefully be able to join you next year with my very own maserati

Adam - you could do a lot worse than this one

Good starting point, expect there to be loads of rust in the rear wheel archs and boot but these can fixed easily if your just looking for it to be a track car.

Throw a couple grands worth of demon tweeks bits and bobs and you got your self a track toy! Simples......

I looked at that earlier, i really want a red one. I am tempted to get into a GTA at some point in the next 18 month if funds allow.

The GTA's are nice but they are pretty expensive to run considering the value of the cars and insurance is v high on them. If i'm right in thinking your lucky enough to be in your early 20's then you will find it near impossible to get a decent quote on one unless you go named driver on a parents policy and even then there are implications to doing this.

The 147 &156 GTA are both group 19 so are seen as high performance and therefore very high risk for young drivers.

To put into perspective i looked at 156 GTA in the summer and the insurance quotes for it were more than by 650I(30yr with 6 NCB) which is just crazy given the power difference between the two cars (250/367). It seems some cars seem to be on a black list for high risk and therefore high premiums.

You really should consider a nice 155 or a GTV. I had my 155 when i was 21 and it was great intro into italian car ownership. even the 2.0 16v which is the best version for me is a great engine and makes a lovely noise.....

GTV Adam if you can get insured, really a true Alfa, I had 2, a 2l TS and a 3.2V6.

Forget the JTS it's pants, start with the TS, fabulous car!

Brilliant Ozzie....The 155 just looks so right as a racing car....Especially the red ones...Thanks for sharing.
