Hi there,

I've two questions please.

1. The passenger side air bag deactivation switch is giving trouble (confirmed via diagnostic). Eurospares are listing two different switch modules. Is 383310168 correct do you think? http://www.eurospares.co.uk/searchResult_one.asp?S=383310168&TM=3&TMo=494&TA=2&TB=19427 I've heard that this part is teh same as the Alfa GTV part, but wonder if the car keys are similar..? It looks like you just pull out the old switch with battery off and replace - no need to go near glovebox?

2. I recently changed the HID dips with OSRAM Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited D2S which work great. However, I had also bought Philips X-treme Vision +130% H1 for the main halogen beams. But they don't fit... H1 must be for the 3200 or something. What are the main beam bulbs does anyone know (on a HID equipped car)? Are they H9 (709). Or are they H7? Or something else? :)

Car is 4200 facelift 2005 UK spec.

Thanks!

1) Yes pretty much. I don't think it's actually a key switch per se, but if it is you'll need to take the lock barrel out of the old one. Dead simple by all accounts.

2) Odd the parts list definitely has H1 listed :(

I believe you should disconnect the battery before changing the airbag switch.

Re the main beam bulbs, my electrician pointed out the etching on the side of the headlight cover, stating what type of globes to fit. Without checking my car as it's 11pm here, I think it was H1, check it on yours.
Good luck.

You are quite right - there is writing on the outside top edge of the plastic lens. And it says among other things 9630 9652 and ... wait for it ... H1. So maybe we made a mistake... :blushed:

Sure you actually got an H1? Maybe it was mis packed?

I think I will just check it again when the car is next jacked up or on a ramp with the wheels off ... and check the actual base of the existing bulbs! It's not very high priority as the main beams are fully functional as-is.
I'll post back then on whatever I find. Thanks all!

Update:

- Main beam (high) bulbs are definitely H9 not H1. :( Just a warning to anyone with dip Xenons/HIDs who is looking to update the heads/mains as well. Don't think there is any uprated H9 bulb out there.

- New airbag deactivation switch fitted. Really easy to fit - no dismantling needed (just ignition and battery off, then pop out the old switch, remove circlip, replace old lock barrel in new switch, refit connector). Had to be reset with SD2/3 to clear both lights though. Fingers crossed the error stays away now (it was very specific about the switch being faulty)
