Looks great - very similar to my old AC (now owned by alfettafan). Photos don't do justice to just how good a 3200 AC looks in red. I think an AC deserves some larini exhausts though....too tame without them!

I can vouch for the fact that the Larini's are AWESOME !!

How is the A*st*n Nige ? Am I allowed to say that on here...?

Still loving it, cheers Alistair! Did a 900 mile roadtrip in it a couple of weeks ago (Applecross, Torridon, Isle of Lewis, Isle of Harris, Isle of Skye, Arisaig) - performed faultlessly, unlike the weather! Parked up next to a black Gransport at Torridon and reassured myself that I'd made the right decision (sorry all!).

However, I'm missing having an Italian car in the stable so am looking to replace the daily Golf with a 147, GT, or 156 Sportwagon.

Go for a diesel GT! Good economical and still somethig talian with the sound

Totally agree, I've had a Blackline Diesel GT for over 3 years now and it's been superb! More reliable than any Porsche I ever owned!!

Cheers wattie

Have a GT JTD, what can I say, practical with its 4 decent seats, fast, luxurious, involving, 500+miles per tank at £85 (600 on motorway runs) and goes like the preverbal off a stick. Go for the Lusso with BOSE, well worth it.

OK, its an Alfa, so it has some issues:
Front suspension is the same as the 156/147, so it handles really well but is harsh on bumpy roads and the top arm need replacing every 2 years due to squeaking (£25 a side and a simple job of an hour to fit)
Engine gards/undertray are forever falling/sagging
Door handles can break due to seized hinges. Its an hour to fit a new one and about £150 for the part
Auto drop on the windows can get a bit confused which means a reset once a week (hold down for 10 secs/hold up for 10 secs)
EGR valves soot up. Garages will charge you for a new part, about £200 where you can simply clean it yourself for free (mines been fine for a year now)
Clutches can be notchy and heavy, again, garages will charge you for a new clutch at £1k or you can dribble gear down the clutch arm freeing up the problematic bush for free.
Tailgates can rattle which is annoying
Turbo pipes can split as they are poor quality but a full silicone sets are available for less than a £100

Sounds bad, no not really, just niggly as any Alfa can be, but the body hugging Lusso seats, the powerfull Bose hifi, the handling, the brakes and the power make it feel like a real Alfa, if only a soot chucker!

Those figures make the Maser figures for mpg look rather excessive, but I suppose we all are??

Thanks, just loving driving!! By the way I live somewhere between Grimaldi one way and Bill McGrath the other, anyone got any views/advice on which one to go to when I need anything doing?

There will be member views on each of them and there is a thread with a list of independents which you could check. I have heard good reports of both the indies mentioned. Check them both out for pricing and see who is competitive, they sometimes have deals on?

You get 500miles of town driving matt??

Mixed. We don't really have the traffic down here you have in London. The GT always does 500 miles to the tank, more like 525.

I basically drive to and back to work plus to my parents on the motorway once a week.
