Well after my head deciding I need to sell my Gransport just before Christmas my heart just wouldn't let me do it, so here I am looking forward to sunny weather still as a Maserati owner :)

As I'm keeping her I think I need to shell out a few quid as the clutch seems to be finally on it's way out and the annual service is due - I've done the ringing around and used supercarhub for comparision. Service prices are all pretty much comparable, but clutch prices prices range from:

SB Race engineering - £1.7K
Emblem - just under £2K
Roberts Aerospace - £2.5K

I'm expecting to need a release bearing and flywheel too at my mileage, but I might be lucky.

So anyone have any experience of SB Race engineering? I know Emblem are much respoected (they did the last big service for me), but £300 is £300!

Cheers,

Neil

Good to hear you're keeping her....and now you're going to spend a few bucks....will be keeping it even longer!!!

Did you try D!CK Lovetts too? They will price match.

Wondering why R Aerospace so dear?

But you need to be clear whats included in each clutch renewal......so comparsions are viable.

I made sure prices were for the same work and include fitting, balancing and VAT.

I questioned the R Aerospace price as they are generally cheaper on most things, his response was basically that they balance it properly! Shame as they are the nearest to me and he did sound like a very knowledgeable chap.

Dick Lovett are just working up some prices for me.

Me too, we know Mike only charges £40 per hour.

Dick Lovett price - tiny bit cheaper than Emblem, nice to see the main dealers being competitive though!

DL quoted me a fair bit less than Emblem.

Just had mine done by DL. Has come back perfect, oh and as clean as an Andyk valet :D

Giallo should be competitive too? They put a new clutch in for me at a very competitive price about 4 years ago.

Thought you might like to know, got the best price for a clutch inc.release bearing from Maranello in Egham in the end - they beat all the indies and are only 25 mins down the road. Annual service was also the cheapest - think I got lucky as they had a cancellation. GS goes in tomorrow morning.

Now just got to blag a QP as a replacement car ;)

Good luck with Maranello, be interested to hear how many things they suggest you have done following checkover during the service...

Yeah, I am sort of expecting that!

I had a list of jobs to get done on the car following the initial inspection when I bought it from Biil McGraths about 16 months ago. Everything has been done so far, so it will be interesting!

Well the GS it's on it's way home with everything done and surprisingly Maranello didn't find much to mention on the inspection and said it was a pretty sorted car which was nice.

Bring on the sunshine :)

Fluxy, was it you that bought the blue GS that was for sale near Luton for a while? If so, its brilliant to hear the above, more so based on the miles it has covered.

(I might have crossed wires, so apologies if I have!)
