Guys

Got the car back after service and removal of Larini back boxes a week or two back and pulling up to a T junction on the short journey home the car cut out. Restarted first time.

After returning from holiday a few days ago its done it a few times, always when slowing down at roundaouts, traffic lights or T junctions.

Will be taking it in to Shiltech tomorrow but anyone got any ideas?

Just to stress it is the 4200 with the manual box.

Cheers

It could be a brake servo vacuum issue as it's doing it as you pull up or failing that would suspect the MAF or some dodgy fuel.

It could also be a clutch disengement issue....sorry just seen yours is a manual so it's not the clutch.

Have the plugs ever been changed?

Yes, the plugs were changed during the service just before this problem started.

Off down to Shiltech shortly will report back in due course.

Hello Dave,
I had the same experience with my 4200 Spyder (2004 manual)
It's very disconcerting as you lose sterring and braking servo assistance - just when you need them part way onto a roundabout!
Roberto at Grimaldi fixed it by replacing a switch on the throttle pedal (not the potentiometer) which cost about £20, I think.
This did the trick unless it was a coincidence.
Good luck, Russell

Right

Down to Shiltech this morning. Matt had a look at a few bits, went out for a five minute drive and couldn't get it to cut out.

Finished my lovely cup of tea, jumped in and 1.5 miles later - cuts out again!:as007:

Back to Shiltech and it's now booked in for next Wednesday but I have a feeling this is not going to be an easy find/fix.

Fingers crossed!

.....yes Dave, some are tedious and require quite a bit of testing and investigation, hoping they get to the bottom of it next time!

Sorry to hear this Dave. Can you feel it coming, ie a stall cut-out or is the engine revving correctly and then it just cuts?

Em.

Miles

Engine as normal, no warning, just cuts.
Happens when slowing down for junctions/roundabouts.

Anyway, hope they also get to the bottom of things with your one soon.

Guys

Been to Shiltech several times and still not got to the botom of this.

Tried MAF sensor, and checked allc onnections. Geoff thought it might be an earthing issue but no.

I have the car back at the moment as it is a very intermittent problem - happened once last week in 300 miles but previously has gone a few times within 20 miles. Geoff is thinking things through and asking around but with no CEL its a difficult one.

That's it guys.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave

Did you get a resolution to this, as my car just cut out today when idling at some traffic lights, but restarted ok?

Thanks

No I didn't but when I swapped my OEM back boxes off and put the Larinis back on the problem was fixed!

Problem only started when I originally took the Larinis off so not sure if the two were connected.
Anyway no problems for the last month.

Aha, you answered my question from the other thread Dave. So Larini's can mend your car! How good is that! :D
