2005 (MY2006) LHD 4200 CC
I currently have my RHS arch liners removed. This revealed two mysteries that I'm hoping someone can help with.

The first, more important, mystery is that I found two plugs not attached to anything (see photos). What are they for and are they supposed to be connected to anything?

The second mystery is that up on the inside of the plastic bumper there was the following hand written in marker pen : "RICARDO 104037 14/10/05" I am presuming that the 14/10/05 refers to the date the bumper was either manufactured or fitted, the latter being the more likely I think since by 19/12/05 my car had been registered in France (so by then had arrived from Italy, been prepped, and the registration processed which normally takes a week or two here). But who is RICARDO and what is 104037?

All thoughts welcome
Thanks
Tony

Ricardo was probably the bloke who fitted the bumper. Others have seen Eduardo. The other number might be a build number to match the bumper with the car with that specific options list, colours etc.

I am guessing btw

What he said.

If you look further, you will find plenty of unconnected plugs. I believe there was one loom, for different specs. If everything works as it should, don’t worry about it.

What Zep said too.

As for those plugs, stick a little plastic bag over them and don't poke anything into them.

Don't fix anything that isn't broken. - my epitaph.

Thanks to you both - I'll have to learn to worry less !!!

Ricardo is of course a vehicle development company, the same one that make McLarens engines.

If this is the case it ties into the extra loom as development vehicles have extra wiring added to monitor things. A recent YouTube video showed a 5 series with lots of extra, but very professional wiring not going anywhere. It turned out the first owner was Volvo who were carrying out a full analysis on the BMW as part of the V70 development to benchmark it.

Thanks CJ Romeo, but I very much doubt that this has anything to do with Ricardo the huge engineering company - why would they be hand writing things in marker pen up inside a bumper? Also I've looked at the wiring loom diagram on the Scuderia web site and my two plugs are shown.
