Also seems to back up the theory that no two Maserti's are the same!
Thanks
David

That's why we spend so much time talking about each others cars, I think. Each one is unique, with its own foibles, its own personality and that's why we love 'em.

Stu - Just realised that I didn't finish my answer to you and I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea why I didn't comment on Auto-Sportiva post Dominic!

As far as I know, the sale of Dominic's share in the business was planned and amicable. I had one outstanding matter with my car that I had agreed with Dominic to leave for another day as I wasn't in any great rush. But with Dominic's departure I contacted Jane and she has been very helpful and has agreed to bring the matter to a happy conclusion.

So I can still say that Auto-Sportiva are an excellent business to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any of the Members.

Regards

David

Thanks David, I appreciate your feedback. That's certainly been my experience dealing with Jane and Neil and I would also recommend the services of Auto Sportiva.

Just measured my AC & 4200, AC is 675mm to top of wheelarch and 4200 is 690mm, so it is coming down by at least 15mm.

Hello everyone,
I found my way to the first post in this community through a technical question. Safrane from the maseratiforum.co.uk suggested me this thread as the closest to my question.. :blushed:
Since few days ago I'm a happy my02-03 4200 CC owner. The car rides on almost brand new KW Variant 3 coilovers. My point is that it seems too lowered to my everyday use and I will need to put it higher. I doubt if the previous owner has set it up correctly and according to the OE front-rear difference.. Does anyone know the original ride height of a non Skyhook 4200 CC? My major point which I think makes real sense in stability and handling is the difference between front and back? I already read this past post: http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showt...t-slight-problem?p=21145&viewfull=1#post21145 and saw that Emtee has measured years ago both axles at 67cm but he pointed out wider - changed rear tires. Does anyone know if this 67cm from the ground to the top of the wheel arches is real and correct for our suspension setup?
Thank you in advance for any idea(s) Best wishes for a Happy New year ☺

are corner weights a better measure of balance when messing with the suspension? Any easy way of getting corner weights?

This may help, when fitting FD sport springs.
The difference between the front and back being 12mm, the back higher of course.

So the measurement is from the underside of the wheel arch rim, to the rim of the wheel, not the tyre..!!

One last clarification, I suppose the below part of your attachment refer to the factory ride height, correct?

No I believe recommended ride height.
My 02 car presently on stock suspension rides 20mm higher than those stated.
However if you have a 03 onwards 4200 if will be slighter lower than mine, and if a GS, it might ride the same as those stated being set lower still from the factory.

I notice you state yours is an 02-03, does it have the rear wing aerial (02) or no aerial (03), as from the factory they both had different springs with skyhook and different ride heights.

Anyway....looking at mine which is riding too high, dropping 20mm to the FD measurements sounds about right without being silly.
What is the height of yours at the moment?

Adjusting the ride height and measuring from the wheel arch is all nonsense on 3200 and 4200's...

These cars were corner weighted from the factory, so don't expect the wheel to wing clearance to be the same all round!

Not 100% but I somehow understand what you mean. Surely you sound more familiar in regards to tech details and our cars' chassis..
What would you then suggest us or particularly me to adjust correct a good after market suspension like my already fitted KW var.3?

Just for starter's.. ..What with that huge battery on the right hand side rear, plus the driver on the same side, RHD cars will always be set up completly different to LHD versions!

Dave,
Regardless of batteries etc., the car should be a level height all round, if not there is an issue..!! The springs are not that soft to suddenly slop over when you put your battery in, a driver will naturally have an effect, but not massive unless they are 25 stone, or something like that..!!
Cheers
