Hi Everyone.
OK commiting myself to this car now (not left with any choice really)I now have to try to make things right.
Bit of a wild shot but:
Need a little help as I am close to blowing my first 2 years running costs on getting my car up to Scratch and I need to spend on servicing and save on other stuff.
I am in need of competitively priced:
Maserati toolkit for 4200
Maserati tyre repair kit.
CD autochanger or something that will connect to the existing autochanger wiring.
Dark Blue over mats.
Reverse gear selector plastic surround and centre consul plastic surround (could be in carbon finish as well if both match).
Maserati wheel logo`s
Electric seat controls drivers side (With heated option)
Latest Sat Nav CD .

I am interested in anything that would have been on my car originally.
Thankyou in advance
Adam

Adam, in a word, David Askew or Europsares

www.davidaskew.co.uk

www.eurospares.co.uk

I would start with David Askew first, he will be cheaper, then Eurospares will be able to sort you the other used bits and if not, they do new also at a little cheaper than the Main Dealers.

Also, have a look round on Ebay, you get people who break entire cars on there.

The mats you will have to buy new

The CD stack is a Becker Silverstone, you get them in alot of Alfas, but they are not that great. You would be better to bin the entire system and try and get your hands on a Becker Grand Prix for about £300, it has a car kit and single CD/MP3 player and is much more powerful than the OEM unit. Try ebay.de if you struggle to find it, using translation in Google.

I got mine here but they have sold out now, its the green screen you want:

New carpet set from Eurospares is only £77 for all 4 mats.

Maserati wheel logos new from Eurospares are cheap

Latest Sat nav CD, someone on here will do you a copy

Eurospare's would be your best bet mate.

I'm not sure if David Askew has any 4200 stuff but alway's worth a try.

Just one thing to consider before you go down this route. As I understand it once you start sorting things yourself you undermine your legal position with the supplier of your car. Therefore are you sure this is what you want to do, as opposed to insisting they remedy all issues? Once you start this I am not sure you can go back?

Just a thought. Good luck either way.

You know, without illiciting any overloads on sympathy..this is a completely different forum to that other one and rather than being too judgmental, you lot just think of ways to sort it out.
You appear a good bunch of blokes (and maybe ladies?) and it makes me realise that maserati owners are not all stuck up judgmental old farts (although some of you still may be)LOL
I am going to do my best to remedy the serios faults and first thats the servicing, the fuel leaks and the seals.
I have some experiance of electronics (ex IT engineering ) so i can have a little look at whats going on with the rest of the car.
I am sure that enough money can make this car a good car again (though the servicing will always be missing) i guess my point was why was i having to spend my money doing it.
I will price a seal from eurospares ,is it something that can be done myself?
I also need to have a full maserati checkup as i do not know the state of bushes and things either.
It has to be main dealer on this occasion as "main dealer credability" to compensate for the missing services.
I have a 4200 wind deflector almost Like New in its case to trade for something i need.
regards
Adam
P.s |Matt you know i have a spyder dont you? I think that my car had a 5 disc changer by Blaupunkt didn`t it ?
Maybe the ipod will be a better option?

Re: It has to be main dealer on this occasion as "main dealer credability" to compensate for the missing services.

I am not convinced this is the case and a lot of posters here will suggest you get a better service with equal credibility from one of the top notch indis. I would seriously consider an indi as you may arguably get a better service and it will cost significantly less - no bad thing given your circumstance. People here will recommend someone near to you.

..and yes I walk the talk. My car was full main dealer SH until I bought it and I went indi (MP Supercars in Edinburgh) having formed the view, from comments posted, I would get a better service there than at a main dealer.

Cheers

To be fair, it's the same people posting on here as posted on "the other one"...it's just that now there is a realisation that you may be genuine.

I must admit I don't understand why, if the car is as bad as you say, and when you were so sure of your legal position, you are now deciding not to reject it. Are you sure you're not just being waved away by the seller....because he obviously doesn't want you to go down the legal route rather than because he genuinely doesnt have the means to pay? From your early posts it sounded like there was major upfront cost, and a lack of service history that will make it difficult to sell. Not wishing to be a naysayer, and hopefully you can do enough to be happy with the car, but I suspect the hassle could taint your ownership experience.

I am begining to realise that i may be just getting fobbed off with this refund .
I have given an ultimatum pay £3500 towards the costs or collect the car,BUt i can also legally make the seller pay for the repaires if he refused a refund.
I must admit its an interesting thought...
The car is bad enough with just the leaking roof, window regulators, sat nav aircon and service history (or complete lack of)
I have been advised by 3 maserati people that it would need a major sevice and all fluids and plugs, carbon filters and lambda sensors replaced after 4 years of nothing done.

Exeter Maserati :To carry out full 31,250 mile service as requested is £2450.50 inclusive of vat to include lambda sensors and charcoal canister as these items should be replaced every 4 years.

maranello: Annual 4 service with air conditioning service £2948.10 (this would include gearbox and power steering fluid changes)replace lambda sensors, recommended every 4 years £607.18 Replace carbon canister, recommended every 4 years £391.98

specialist : annual service inc 2nd year fluids £775 + Vat.Air Conditioning degas / recharge and filter change £314.30 + Vat (Or just air con recharge £90 + Vat.
Replace lambda sensors, recommended every 4 years - £453.30 + Vat Replace carbon canister, recommended every 4 years - £230.50 + Vat

I don`t really know whats best as i could engage a solicitor and then start acruing costs but if they then collect the car and refund me i could be down a few thou before i ever start.
They could also let me spend a few thousand on fees then just declare bankrupcy.
Its a game of damage minimisation, but you are quite right all of you.
I will confirm the rejection of the car, if they have not refunded the £3500 by 3pm
