Hi all

new to the forum, have a 4200 grey cambiocorsa, just need a bit of advice on oil topup, level is towards the bottom of low marker.

I picked up a litre of 5w-40 Shell helix utlra (says used by ferrari) and need to know if its suitrable for use as im going on a long trip soon guy at shell garage says it probably will, but rather get some confirmation.

label says:
API SM/CF ACEA A3/B3/B4; BMW LL-01; MB approval 229;5 VW 50200/50301/50500. Porsche A40 Renault A40; Renault RN0700; RN0710; Ferrari; Meets the requirements of FIAT 9.55535-72

thanks for replies and will post picture of my old girl when i come back from my jollies :)

Hi Indiosse,

Just to check, you've measured it with engine warmed up AND running?

That fully synthetic oil is as recommended

Hi Indiosse, Welcome to the forum! Hope you're enjoying your car?

Just to supplement Parisien's advice, if you don't know what oil is in the car there's a small chance you're mixing types adding the Shell Helix. Not a lot you can do about it, but when it goes in for service, make a note of what they put in and top up with the same.

Regards, Miles.

If in doubt Miles....best then to change it..........then

P

Belt and braces and all that, and putting cost aside P, yes a full oil and filter change would be the correct course of action if the current contents are unknown. Perhaps if Indiosse has a record of the last service he could enquire as to what went in and top up with the same?

hi guys

thanks for all replies very helpful, stuck some oil in now so feel much better about trip tomorrow.
interesting that you check the oil while engine is running, thought that was a misprint when i first read it, is it a ferrari engine thing?

anyway post some pics when i come back in a month
