Hi,

Am replacing the bumper on my blue facelift 4200 soon.

I see that according to Eurospares the Gransport Xenon/washer bumper is the same price (although it does show a separate front spoiler part which is confusing - I assume this is included on the "complete bumper" part..?).

Which should I choose?

I see that the original slats and optional black mesh or chromate mesh grills are the same price. Would the black mesh grille look better than the slats?

E.g. black mesh http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/maserati/gransport/maserati-gransport-v8-anniversary-model--------------------2006/2938095

Vs. slats http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/maserati/4200/cambiocorsa-4200-my05-facelift-model/3759483

Or chrome like http://www.netcarshow.com/maserati/2004-gransport/ / http://images.gtcarlot.com/pictures/17770626.jpg http://static.cargurus.com/images/site/2008/06/05/07/22/2005_maserati_gransport_2_dr_std_coupe-pic-41170.jpeg? I think this may be very "bling"..?

Ty :)

Maser, why are you replacing the whole bumper?

The black grill is just a chrome one painted black, you will notice over time the stones will chip some bits of pait off revealing the shiney chrome underneath.

Personally I prefer the black as it makes the Trident stand out more.

The chin splitter you refer to enables you to repace the damaged part should you scrape your own as they sit close to the ground. They can also be fitted to a standard 4200 facelift unit with some 'fetteling' to give you the GS look as it is 3" deaper than the 4200.

I did this on my second 4200.

Cracked unfortunately...

Would I have problems over speedhumps do you think?

Thanks - good to know that the splitter is included with the GS bumper..

Is the trident better in silver (as now) or with the alternate part with the red strips? Silver or silver with red / second pic
Obviously the other trident logs are silver on the car (no red).

I think I'll go for the black mesh. The rear mesh pieces are black so might be strange to have the front silver. What front grille did you have on your 4200 facelift?

My 2005 facelift has black grills front and back ( the front is not chrome underneath) and the trident has the red stripes. I have no reason to believe this is not as delivered when new. Agree chrome front and black back would seem like a miss match.

Pretty recently, there were no Xenon bumpers in Europe but there were plenty of non-xenon ones, the only difference being the washer cut outs. The xenon bumpers were, IIRC, about £300 more so get yourself a non xenon bumper and get your body shop to cut out the holes.

I'm not sure, but as well as holes I would expect tapped holes or mounting bracket for the headlight washer assembly?...unless these aren't supported by the bumper of course!

That makes sense - from what I've read the slats were on the early facelift cars, and the black or chromate mesh was an option - and then maybe standard later. It's curious the facelift also got the red marks on the trident - this must mean it was associated with a sport pack rather than Gransport specific (quite possible when you see the list of compatible cars on Eurospares).

Interesting points - I've been told I can get a bumper in 14 days but maybe I should check a second source to be sure...

From your note, I guess the washer assembly just sticks through the hole in the bumper..?
