Yeah...when labour is 50% plus of cost....may as well get extras done....so if doing 4-5 K a year....it could last you 6 - 8 years!!

Ok Thinking like Yanks now.

I can get clutch kit for around £600. I have access to a 4 post lift. I have access to an experienced FM mechanic WITHOUT SD2. Can I replace clutch and then take car to dealer to adjust PIS etc? I can also see with my own eyes if flywheel and or release bearing needs replacing.

You may as well do the bearings whilst the clutch is out, the low cost of the bearings it's well worth it. An indie should charge around £1,500 for the full job, but that needs clarification with the indie before you go ahead.

If a decent mechanic, the flywheel wear will be obvious, but given its a full days labour......best advice is to do all
