I had this and mine was worse to close if I had used the electrical release in the glove box, on inspection was the cable on the mechanism "binding" in the outer cable cover, it had been kinked slightly, I stripped it down and straightened and lubed it up and has been fine since.

They don't like being slammed, i found that shortly after slamming my boot to get it shut i had to reset the whole boot lid and latching mechanism to get it to sit right, so i would definitely not resort to force to get it to shut. i think once its shutting properly i very short but positive drop (2-3 inches), with your hand just pressing it into place, is the best. Anything gets in the way do not force it, move whatever is in the way and then close it. I had many issues with the boot lid including the seals leaking until i got my zen going and treated it with some respect and its been good for quite a few years now. The worst of it is the bolts that hold it in place are all sliding mounts, so there are a million ways the boot lid can move on its bolts, once some thing gives it can be tricky to get it back where it should be, be careful.

^ mine was exactly the same, a gentle but firm close seemed to work, slamming it , it would just stay open. No issues once I learned the knack.

I have had same problem of boot not shutting

Slamming won't work

Mike at Maserati Shet sorted it last week, cable binding, whole lot needed lubricating, lock getting stuck and whole boot lid badly adjusted by previous owner to try and botch-fix it.

All done now and perfect fit and easy operation

Yes even when set up well i think some times it is just not in the mood and you have to try again! not sure my success rate is 2 out of 3 but it some times just does not close and i try again, you get used to it, it's Italian!

Yes its Italian, just be thankful it has not rusted through and fallen off completely. Appreciate what you've got :)

I took my camera to a track day at oulton yesterday as some of the superbikes were out testing.

Got home and I think you can guess where it still is

Let the 4200 fun begin

Try the usual one pressing the button in the glovebox whilst wiggling the whole button fascia.

There are 3 options and none of them will open it

Key won't turn, boot release in the glovebox , the remote makes 3 clicks from inside but doesn't pop open

Probably just adjustment once I get it open , I'll try the pressing it down while I turn the key this afternoon

Spray a load of WD40 into the lock a couple of times and leave it for a while. The key is always quite stiff in the lock due to lack of use mainly. Turn it a bit further than you're initially comfortable with, it's the last half a mm that opens the lock.

A bit of downward pressure I am sure will release it while popping the solenoid.
