Has anyone defined what constitutes a mod? I’ve added an air freshener! Most exhausts are 3rd party- they can’t insist on you buying OEM, so as far as I can see, more or less anything goes
I hope not hanging from your mirror. I’m very suspicious of people with danglies from their mirrors. They are usually terrible drivers.

They tried this stunt a while back with the bikes...Everything in the drive train...which means motor ( power output to tyres..! ( The concern was a difference in circumference FFS )
They have ignored alternative braking systems to ABS that manufacturers have spent millions developing and insisted that little bikes are fitted with expensive and complicated ABS instead...It was total EU bollox at the time..Seems like Brexit has done nothing to stop the uninformed, overpaid political class from putting their cross in the box that pays best...!?
Following it's withdrawal, they started on the so-called "Super MOT"...meaning bikes would have to satisfy similar tests to type approval standards in the test every two years...( basically be as it was when sold)
Bikes are also currently under the same proposals- detail is "thin in the ground' to put it politely...!

Never say never- the Germans have TUV testing. No idea how it affects cars but bikers have to go to great lengths to get mods approved...every time it comes up.
The French changed the law so all bikes are 100HP or less. It cost their MC industry dear. They continue to insist that people on older bikes arent allowed access to Paris for example..better to sit alone, in a 4 seater, clog the streets, and spew their emissions from a worse alternative....!
F*cking bureaucrats....

So all of that was for nothing?? But they said the UK would be much better off leaving, surely they can't have been fibbing all along? I'm starting to think COVID was designed in a London lab to cover up the failings of Brexit...

Germany is quite strict, if you follow the rules. Which the germans are known for.

Selling my x-pipe to german people was hilarious, noone wanted one because modifying the exhaust can result in a big fine. I believe they can make it an environment offense (same for bikes) and not just noise. So then you get a little bit of a bigger fine and you have to get the car/bike tested before you can drive it again.

Im sure there are still plenty of people doing it, regardless of the law.

It's sad but true, we are privileged to be able to experience the last of the real enthusiast cars with designs that are lovable, faults that are forgivable, maintenance that is doable and sound that is unforgettable. Carpe Diem!

LOL....what a load of tosh. My TVR would be massively screwed. More modified than standard!

Then again if you didn't modify a TVR and kept it how it rolled out of Blackpool the effing thing would hardly ever work

and then you would be forced to buy a new car.....
LOL.....as long as they are paying and replace with an equivalent I guess I could go along with that. A 2 seater RWD sports targa/convertible with circa 475bhp per tonne might cost them a few quid

You can imagine how it'll go... Ok sir could you just fill in this form detailing all the non standard modifications on your vehicle, in a couple of days we'll let you know if your car still qualifies for a vehicle excise license..

I'm going to guess that any future legislation would apply to future cars, i.e. cars that exist now would be exempt. tbh, what's the point of modding an electric car anyway, You may as well mod your fridge-freezer. I suppose you could claim it was hacked. Invoke the 'Shaggy defence'. Wasn't me.
