Hi Everyone,

My 3200GT needs a new clutch and I've been doing some research on options to replace it. I have found that Sachs (who make the original clutch) also make a high performance clutch. Please see the link below for details.

http://en.sachsperformance.com/sachs-race-performance-clutch/maserati/maserati-3200gt/32-biturbo-v8-32v-271-kw-101998-032002/sre-performance-kupplung-set-2.html

I've been in contact with Sachs and the guy told me that the pressure plate is the same as the standard one, so it won't feel any different (or heavier). But the friction material is better, which allows more power or I surmise the same power for longer life.

Anyway these retail at around €1000 each but I reckon I could negotiate a good discount with Sachs if we did a group buy.

So I'm here to gauge interest, please let me know if you're interested...

Cheers,
Dan

The best upgrade for the 3200 would be the clutch bearing as they are a weak spot and have the habit of snapping the ears off the bearing.

That said, friction wise, there is nothing wrong with the OEM item, so it seems a lot to pay for not really any gain, just my two penneth worth.

That looks like a nasty failure. The release bearing on the performance clutch is same as the standard one.

Yeah the performance clutch looks quite expensive comapred to the standard clutch, but i reckon I can get 15% discount which brings the
price down to £750.

and a new clutch from eurospares is £458 +VAT.. so £582 in total.

So the performance one is only about £150 more than the standard.
