3200Gt Engine Wanted

Hi guys,

My news is unfortunately all bad. The water pump sheared its mounting and threw the timing belt a few teeth. As a result, bent valves, damaged pistons ad perhaps rods...

As the car is going to be for sale after the repair, I'm going to put in a used engine as the cheapest option. Any leads on an engine would be greatly appreciated. I have already sent Migliore an email about the one mentioned here a few weeks back. The engine would need to be shipped to Perth Australia.

Hope someone can help.

Regards,

Neil

There are these two being broken on e bay. The first guy was asking GBP 1650 which I think is around A$2400 + delivery. This probably includes 20% UK VAT which you would not have to pay.

These are just general breakers and I don't know what the engines will be like.

It might be worth trying Dave Askew http://www.davidaskew.co.uk/. Dave is a known Massa enthusiast and has a great reputation.

Hi Neil, thats a shame, sorry to hear of your grief and extra expenditure. I think on ebay over here, nearly all sales I've seen don't have a VAT element on ebay unless a pure trader, let us know how you get on.

All the best

Really sorry to hear that Neil. Just what you don't want ahead of the new job and the car sale.

They're both the same car Arfa, so maybe it's been moved on before being broken?

Dave Askew is a good call, and if the delivery costs stack up, I believe he'll take the old engine for him to re-build. I believe he reduces the cost in light of this, but you'd need to ask.

Really hope you get it sorted Neil without too much hassle.

Thanks guys...yeah, two months away from moving to Dubai and this is not what I needed. It was all going too smoothly to be honest so I kinda expected a dead cow in the middle of the road! As my lady friend say, throw enough money at the problem and it will go away. Hopefully not too much!!

Neil

Well spotted Miles

The car is definately in at Westminster Autospares as I have been to their yard to collect a couple of parts for my Ghibli and have seen the car.
The engine has been removed and is in store.
They are a trader so the VAT reduction should apply. They specialise in Mercs, Bentleys and Rollers but are breaking a couple of QPIV as well as the 3200.

Neil,
Sorry to hear that news, hope you can get a replacement lump without too much out of pocket, sell the old engine on for a refurb, or bits..??
Cheers

sounds like the timing is very poor (if there is ever a good time to have a wrecked engine!) How many miles has the car done? We all need to watch out for this.

Flying water pumps resulting in belt slip is a very high odds event, I have not heard of that happening before, really unfortunate luck..!!
