I would suggest a little caution moving the knock sensors unless you really just want to disable them. The precise noise they are designed to pick up will only be valid in the designed location. They prevent pinking and if you don't prevent this you can cause damage to the engine.Mike, I note that, on mine, you have relocated the knock sensors to the top of the inlet manifold. Ugly, but effective, presumably.
Yeah, I'm no expert and have left it to the expert. It won't start now, since replacing the starter motor, anyway, so maybe I'll relocate them and see how it goes. While I still would urge extreme caution moving the knock sensors (i.e. don't do it!!) I am pretty sure if they are not working the car will run. If the knock sensors are faulty you will get a knock sensor error and the ECU will retard the ignition and mixture to a "safe level" and possibly put the car into limp home mode (can't remember?) but it will start and run. Similarly if you move them, it will run, but what will happen if you move them is that the noise its picking up will not be right, so it will either detect pinking all the time and your ignition timing and mixture will be toned down and the car will be slower, or it will not detect pinking at all and the car will be fast but destroy the combustion chambers over a period of time requiring a new engine I suspect (hence going to the bother of designing the car with an elaborate system to prevent this).Yeah, I'm no expert and have left it to the expert. Wow epic color on your 3200. If you’ve tried Eurospares, Scuderiaparts and Maranello I cannot help you.Just been looking at this thread, my knock sensors are throwing a full code so have ordered a couple. Unfortunately car would not start thus off to Rose's Garage in Sandwich ( great guys) due to a crank sensor failure. We think this was caused by a small weep from a hose thus will be upgrading to a nice set of matt black silicones. I am struggling to find a crank sensor in stock, is there a Bosch equivalent to the Magneti Marelli Part?
ok the handbrake is a bit of a pig. and although almost every part of it can be troublesome the actual handbrake lever and ratchet has never been a problem on my car so its the only bit i have never worked on!!! i tihnk if you remove the center console you should get enough access to the lever mechanism to work out what's up with it. io am trying to remember but i think it might even be possible to just remove the leather surround bit without dismantling the ceter console?Wow epic color on your 3200. So finally I received the right ‘Bosch’ starter motor which turned out to be a reconditioned Valeo starter anyway.. But okay with that.. been waiting for too long already. Did the installment today and got it running! Also replaced the knock sensors, 32mm silicon hoses on the water manifold, air filters, spark plugs and both belts. Mostly thanks to great topics such as this one
Last project will be the handbrake.. it is working but not holding. Some spring or ratchet broken likely.. have to remove the middle console. Anyone experience wit handbrake issues?
