Im looking to change my oil on Wednesday and have the filter coming on Monday but can't get the sump plug (with washer) for another 10-15 days due to no stock.

Does anyone have a new sump plug + washer I could have and I can send you mine when it arrives.

or could I get away with using the same plug and washer on this occasion (only 5k old)?

thanks in advance it will get me out of a fix

You can always re use the old one. I saw this on Wheeler Dealers, its called re annealing or something like that. What you basically do is clean it up then heat it up with a blow torch then plunge it into water. This makes the brass washer expand how it first was, then simply re fit.

Was this through Eurospares? Main stealers or you local indy should have stock of service items like that. I have found Eurospares do not have a comprehensive stock and take some weeks to source some parts. Emblem have helped me out by optaining parts from their sources on my behalf, generally within a day or two and that is now my prefered route. Not sure if reuse is recommended, all my service work is done by Emblem to keep the history sweet and check the quality of my DIY repair/maintenance efforts!

You won't need a new sump plug, unless you bugger it up getting it off of course, and the copper washer is easily obtainable as Conearo says. they do a box of various copper washer for a few quid. handy to have in.

Just to add to this story, my Alfa has been leaking underneath the past few months, so I took a look at the weekend, and it turns out that it was from the sump washer, and no, I did not heat it up just bunged the old one back on, so a lesson learnt there!

Mine had split after not being changed for the past 5 years worth of oil changes...by me obviously!!!

Most garages sell them up with the bulbs and things.
