So they’re getting powered for lights. Have you tried putting 12v to the HVAC lighting terminal and seeing if it actually lights up?

No I haven’t yet but that thought crossed my mind this evening too; at least I’d know the panel lighting was working then but there’s no voltage coming through from the rheostat connection and I think that’s the problem(?) …

It would seem strange to me if the rheostat feeds the binnacle, window switches and HVAC from separate outputs????

Yes, I'm beginning to understand the term "Italian Wiring"! Looking at the wiring diagrams the window switch lights are connected directly to the headlamp switch so the rheostat is not involved and they don't dim. The rheostat feeds the binnacle lighting (which I have working although mine doesn't dim) and it delivers output for other lighting through Connector A pin 6 and Connector F. As I don't have 12V at Connector A pin 10 on the HVAC I suspect a poor connection from Connectors A or F on the binnacle. I'm going to see if I can have a look at these by lying on my back in the footwell but I suspect that's going to be difficult.

Yep ... too difficult to see much. I can see that I don't have anything connected to F on the back of the binnacle at all and I don't see a connector that's floating around free. I can't get at A to check that so I'm probably going to leave this until I have more of a reason to justify doing the dismantling that's required to get at the back of the binnacle ...

I've had the same issue on my GS after retrimming the interior, I tested out the lights in the HVAC unit and they were working but the issue was something in the electrics. Keeping an eye on this thread to see a solution as I haven't started to dig into the issue just yet.

Finally got this working today as I couldn't stand another night time drive with the HVAC backlighting down. I found the 3 light bulbs in the HVAC were working but I had no voltage from the rheostat at connector A pin 10. As I didn't want to do a lot of dismantling to get at the rheostat wiring I jumped 12V across from connector C pin 7 so that when I turn the side / head lights on the backlighting works. I can't dim it with the rheostat but I can live with that ...

Are some of your button lights not working?
The button lights are all good along with the ash tray and cigarette lighter. The clock light doesn’t work though but it look’s difficult to get at / doesn’t want to pop out. I guess it must be fastened behind(?)
