I heard the puncture foam renders a permanent repair difficult? True?

Just returned from a family trip away and only just got everything in, and we did not bring excessive amounts of gear. The boot though more practical than my previous 996 does not appear to hold much more, yet on paper its capacity is quoted as about 3 times the amount at 300 liters?!

its mostly down to the way you stack the boot due to the boot/wheel arch pillars being so much more inside the boot than most other cars, even though you have the actual space you dont have the Physical room ! using soft bags instead of suit cases will help. Re foam yes once its used the tyre becomes pretty much UN-repairable but if you have no other options then the foam will get you where your going. you could also try getting a puncher repair kit. there are some you can do at the side of the road without the need for a recover/tyre person. you need the plug type with reamer and insertion tool, they cost about £20 off ebay for a few plugs and the tools, carry a bottle of 65% water to washing up liquid in a spray bottle, remove wheel and spray the liquid over the tyre to find the puncher then you just slip the tool in the puncher with the plugs and bobs your uncle one tyre repaired. also if you are carrying the foam then you have the tyre inflator as well so it is all do able at the side of the road.

If you want to reduce the chance of a puncture impacting you, get some Slime tyre sealant in. I've used it on bikes and it works a charm. Tyre shops don't like it as it makes a mess, but it doesn't make it harder to repair as far as I ever found out.
