3200 Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter? (Size B)

Hi all,

I would like to get power from the cigarette lighter socket from my 3200GT (for my speed camera radar detector and video recorder (maybe GPS as well))... however, noted that it is larger and shallower than the one in normal Japanese car, not far too large... I can still plug in my adapter, but it would be a bit loose and caused the interruption of the electricity when I move it accidentally...

Found from Wiki that it seems like there is a bit different in size on the cigarette lighter socket (size A and size B).... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cigarette_lighter_receptacle and the one on 3200 should be size B....

Do you know anywhere I can find an adapter that fits the socket in 3200GT? I can do the re-wiring to the equipment myself... just need the plug......

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Michael.

I wired my radar detected to the interior light. That way it comes on and off with the ignition, worth a go?

What I did was remove the adapter and wired it straight in. Never had any issues.

Thanks! I know some people will use this method.... for me... I just want to use a less intrusive method to get the power, that's why I go for the cigarette socket... and, in fact, other than the radar detector, I got 2 video cameras, one at the front and one at the back plus one USB power slot for charging of my phone.... Hehehee..... it seems too many... :D And I added a on/off switch to these power outlet so that I can control when to start the devices... 'cos I usually don't want this devices to switch on once I switch on the electricity but before starting the engine....

I also wired a second 12v socket in the glove box. It was to the light as that has constant 12v feed so I could lock things in the glove box and they would charge whilst parked.

The socket was just loose in the glove box and cost about £5 off eBay. Just another option.

Ummm... can consider this as well.... Let me see. Thanks!

I am currently looking for the self same thing. I found one in a store recently that had 3 cigarette lighter sockets, a USB socket and a mini USB type plug, with lots of adapters. The plug to get power was on a fly lead, which I suppose could be changed if it is the wrong type. I am still looking around and will advise if I finally decide on one.

Robert, I had a 3 way (no, not one of those) and it caught fire whilst driving, never again.

I would stick with a single and wire it direct to the battery (with a fuse) and leave it in the spare wheel well, or wire it to the glove box, here is what I bought:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-POWER...essories_SM&hash=item5892908740#ht_650wt_1362

Remove the crocodile cops and wire it properly.

This is a neat way to do it also:

If you pop into any chandlery they will have them.

Those look OK Matt, but I have to power: SatNav, Radar Detector, Charge 1 or 2 Phones and have a Cigar Lighter available if I need it. I know that's pushing it a bit, but the perfect solution would be something like I have described, which I can move in to another car if required. I have seen one in Halfords for I think it was about £60.00, which should be of good quality and if it catches fire I can sue them. I would prefer not to have to start altering the interior of the cars to do this particular job. I can direct wire some stuff, but then for such as radar detector, I want to be able to whip it out and hide it if needs be.
