Chaps, I have an issue with the air pump not operating at all at cold start up. Apart from the obvious ie poor/dirty/loose connections is there a usual culprit for this problem. Will save me time etc if I can go direct to the fault :happy2:

Secondary air system pump, should run on a cold start I believe.

It should but it's kind of pointless. I'd start with the basics. Doe the pump run if you apply voltage, is the solenoid kicking over, is the fuse blown etc etc

My air pump motor was noisy. I just disconnected it.. It's supposed to warm up the cats quicker on cold start ups, only fitted on the later 2001 cars.

Assume I have one, but never heard it or aware of a problem. Where is it in the engine bay?

Thanks, near the "caliper" bracket! The power steering reservoir bracket is broken on mine, impossible to fir a new one with engine in.

If you take the nearside front wing liner out its in there to the rear, just pull the connectors off and your done

It was the only way they could get that old spec engine through Euro 3 emissions..

Yes thanks chaps,
It's an intermittent fault so everything works...........just not at every cold start as it should. I've removed and cleaned connections to pump under left wheel arch......operates fine for a while then just does it's own thing! Just thought it may be a common fault ie particular relay etc not too concerned as I know it's function isn't critical. Car is running as sweet as a nut thanks to a T/B refurb by yours truly and a super P/Pot from Davy :rofl5:
