Adam there's an art to buying a car with a folding wedge , not trying to teach you suck eggs , for example if the car is advertised say for £2500 , do the normal thorough checks , tyres (dont kickem just check the tread) ) under the bonnet for cleanliness , no oil leaks etc , test drive it , check the brakes and suspension when braking etc dont let on you like what you see, say you have already seen one a year newer for less money but with a few more miles , worth having a cheeky bid , before you go stick £2K in readies in one pocket and lots of £100 in other pockets , make your cheeky bid of £2K , tellem you have the money on you and are prepared to do the deal now , then get the money out and make it plain for them to see , if they dither and say no , look to your Dad or your mate and say shall we go and get the other one then , and just turn slightly to walk away , ..............you will be surprised how often this works , its coming up to xmas and they want your cash ...... this really does work in that price range of cars when buying private but not to dealers
If you really want it you can always turn round and add a couple of hundred to your offer ....... remember you can always go up so start low
