Anyone on here test driving the new GT at their dealers. They have one doing the rounds (petrol trofeo I think) and got an invite for Saturday at Tower garage. I can’t go as I’m at Brands Hatch classic with a mate but wondered if anyone was booked in? I think there’s only a few drives and the rest of time is viewing only.

The dealer has been in one and said it’s a bigger car than the old GT (must be HUGE) and had better headroom in the back.

I said on another thread I couldn’t believe they have made it even bigger, it completely puts me off, too big.

I've been invited to Graypaul Nottingham next Friday 2nd for a drive but cannot make it sadly, hoping to re-schedule maybe at another dealership

So according to the tech specs I can find, it isn't that much bigger - depends about how you feel about an extra few inches, unless you think the current GT is too big (which it probably is!)

Old GT Vs New (in inches)
Length 192.17 vs 195.51
Width 75.39 vs 77.05 (excludes mirrors for both)
Height 53.27 vs 53.3

Would love to know what it is like to drive. To me it looks epic and the reviews have confirmed it a great drive. It feels like Maserati have come of age and has a car to beat the competition. Love it.

well, the GT never fitted in my garage, too long and too narrow an entrance (converted stable) so the extra 3" length and width might as well be 3' as far as i am concerned! lol Does look a stunner though but hope they have learned the sub frame lesson this time..........

I was hoping they would make it smaller. Also agree on the GT being too big Already.

The 'old' GT was a cut down QP after Ferrari stole the California from Maserati. I'd hoped for a return to 3200/4200/GS proportions but like everything else, it got fatter...
Too big for UK roads?

I'm just saying that despite the regulations cars can still be made narrower or as narrow as they were 20 years ago. Take engines for example, despite tightening emissions regulations they are more powerful but more frugal in consumption. Turbochargers and hybrids take it to another level. Chassis design is lagging behind.
That's my challenge to designers. Garages and roads are only so wide.

I would say an extra size is material. For a coupe the old GT was a big old bus to thread along average UK road and park in UK car parks so adding 5 to 7 cm in width and length respectively will nibble away at usability and add more chances of bumps and dings when parking / parked, and getting into multistory car parks. It is often only 1 cm between kerbing an alloy or losing a wing mirror and remaining damage free! Not a deal breaker depending on how the car is used but a bit of a shame in my view.

Nobody from Charles Hurst Maserati has contacted me! Despite spending a small fortune with them throughout the years
