2012 GT - EPB stuck on?

Fresh from the disappointment of being too slow on Kiwibrit’s stonking 4200 deal, I went to get my GT out of winter hibernation this morning. Parked up around 3 months ago, i was careful to turn the EPB off (at least I think I was) to avoid any issues, but now the car won’t move. The discs look like they are all moving in the callipers. You can rock it back and forth a couple of cm but nothing more than that. The only thing I can think is that the EPB is stuck on, though I’m not really sure how.

Its parked nose first and quite tightly into a double garage, so access is not brilliant to one side and the front. Also parked up 70 miles from home, so not ideal. Any bright ideas, before I make a call to Voicey on Tuesday?

A gratuitous shot in happier days…

Apart from wheels off and a rubber mallet to try and release them, the gentle rocking is the only option I would think followed by checking/changing them out before going anywhere. I cannot remember how you get to the shoe adjusters but it might help if you wind these back in to.

Thanks both - nope not stuck in gear, changes smoothly between N and R. Rubber mallet and Jack are 70 miles in the wrong direction :(

Isn’t there an EPB tool in the tool kit for manually winding back the parking brake? Was sure I read this in the manual at some point.

Thanks Bebs - that’s really good of you. Job for this afternoon, after lunch. Will report back
You should see the epb winding back and forth as you switch it on and off. If it is doing this it will be your shoes rusted to the drum. If it isn't then wind away and see what happens.

If it's moving a couple of centimeters, I can't see it being the shoes rusted to the drum. I can see it being the shoes delaminated and jamming the works, though

That does happen after wet weather driving and parking. Slight heart in the mouth moment when they free themselves with a bang…
Glad it’s sorted.

Unfortunately you'll need someone with a gizmo to reset the epb having unwound it manually. You can't reset it manually.

Cheers for all the replies - notwithstanding the discs moving a couple of cm it seems the pads were bound to the discs. Freed up and all seems to be fine

That would have been the shoes rusted to the inside of the rear drum. As Bebs said can happen if you park up for a period when it's wet/salty.
I had it this winter too, and I always park with EPB off. I had to take the wheel and drum off to free mine and as you say, that's difficult when parked tight in a garage.

I wound my shoes off a bit (turning the ratched through the hole in the drum) so they don't run so close to the drums and had no issues since.
