Hi Guys, I just was looking around under the hood and noticed the vacuum line with the yellow marker on it was disconnected. I pushed it back into the rubber booth ...Just below the ''sound chamber''

What does this line do? What effects would it have on the engine if unplugged for a long period.

Can’t see what is unplugged, but if it was likely to do any damage I imagine it would have thrown up a fault code.

My engine oil was replaced 2 weeks age with around 9 hours of run time on it.

The engine oil has a gas smell to it.

I'm assuming as that tube was disconnected the intake sucked in unfiltered air and contaminated the Mass air flow sensor which is sending the wrong information to the computer and dumping an excessive amount of fuel to the cylinders..?? !!! ...

Have you got any warning lights on the dash ?

Pretty sure Jason cleared this up for you.....

Yes he did, but the issue of the Gas smell in the engine oil is troubling.
This is where I'm at with this gas in oil issue.
Tested the Mass Air Flow Sensor.. Cleaned & Tested It's good
Throttle Body ..........cleaned
I'll check the Coolant Temperature sensor tomorrow.

Not very likely. The car normally runs in closed loop mode. If it’s incorrectly metering air, the o2 sensors will see it running lean/rich and the computer will compensate with adding appropriate fuel trims. If it gets so bad that it can’t compensate anymore (it has limited degree of control), you’re going to throw check engine light. Your car has no codes stored.

Oil will smell. There’s always going to be blow by into the crankcase. If you’re really concerned take it to a shop and have them do a leak down test.

I think we narrowed it down to Low Engine Temperature, due to a faulty thermostat. The needle now stays at 194F while driving on the HWY.
I also pulled the injectors then pressurized the system No injector leaks.
I just ordered 2 bottles of......ZDDP Plus ZINC & PHOSPHORUS oil additive for the engine. Just incase the gas is thinning the oil.

Consider running a full ester oil; if you're in the USA, redline oil has higher ZDDP levels, and the Group V (full ester base) resists fuel dilution. Here in the UK i run Miller's NTS+ for both those reasons ( also I run the oil in my Murcielago, DB9 and Cayenne Turbo).

I'll look into it..

This whole issue with gas in oil and engine ticking all came about when the temperature dropped. I bought the car in May, and drove it during the summer months with no issues. As it got colder in October all heck broke loose. I'll wait until spring and see if the ticking stops. Probably it's an outside air temperature sensor sending the too much info to the ECU ??

Take a read on this link ....this guy has the same issue I have..
