2008 Gran tourismo S Head unit replacement

Hello, have an issue with the satnav/head unit in my 2008 gran tourismo S. it has been diagnosed and needs a replacement board and can be repaired. They are offering another option as to replace the unit with a more modern unit as the old unit isn’t the best and are temperamental

has anyone had this done and what options do I have? I’m based in UK

What are the symptoms & who diagnosed a new board? There are a few threads recently reporting constant re-booting which, I believe, can be solved with a replacement hard drive. The picture you've posted suggests it's worth searching here before shelling out. Re: the car play option - it will still require a function HU.

there are a number of symptoms with the screen going white and it re booting and the current mileage flashing. A company called cartronics has diagnosed it and needs a repair or a replacement unit.

My nit unit in 2008 GT was playing up few years ago, it would just freeze on logo and take anywhere from 10mins to an hour to kick in.
I took the plunge & had graypaul fit new one, and despite cost i’m glad i did. It looks nicer, sat nav is far better and for some reason the bose system was far superior and I got full ipod connectivity for a little extra outlay.
However as above cheaper options are now available, I think I did mine 2014/15 when no other options other than non oe unit existed and Maserati did help with a little financial gesture.

My unit has had some issues like a year ago. But since then never had any problems. I considered swapping drives with a new one from one of the forum members here (he sells new drives based on your current one). From what i gathered the drives also contain all the software and glitches can be due to the old drive just being old and used too much. Its a much cheaper replacement and diy.
Probably someone will chime im with the name and contactinfo :)
