There's a RHD '90s Ghibli on carandclassic.com that's being 'sold for restoration' down near Witney which looks fine in the photos and has an MOT until August next year, I emailed the seller the other day asking about this and received a very honest and prompt reply saying it was to avoid as much liability as possible.

We know that car well. It was @Crofty car then bought by @Kincath . It does not need a full restoration but does always need ongoing TLC. @Kincath had a lot of remedial paintwork done and Crofty's spent a fortune looking after it too. I was going to buy it, and probably should have. Lovely looking car.

Here it is last year in my driveway. Also, I know what it was sold for an £15k is very optimistic.

On the QP, it may be that they can't do a trade sale except to the trade but you try and argue with them after the fact. Good luck, you'll spend more than any claim value trying.

Thanks for that, nice to know of some of its history..... what would you say the Ghibli's worth...? From the photos in the advert it certainly looks like a good 'un.

Didn't Marshall Maserati or Lancaster Maserati have someone's 3200 they took in part-ex and then got cold feet and wouldn't sell to the oublic because they didn't want to have to honour a warranty.

I think trade sale only means you have to evidence you are a trader or @rockits to purchase.

Send a PM to @Kincath and he will tell you what he sold for. It’s miles from what they are asking. It’s a good car, not going to win shows but by no means a resto project. And he sold it with fog lights, although they have not been fitted for years as they are not quite 100% correct and would need a Bodyshop to modify the inner bumper. The correct ones are unobtainium. I suggested going for the Integrale look and using some small units and some black grill pieces.

The Ghibli was sold in immaculate condition. The bodywork was perfect and the paint match was first class. I had both full sides painted to sort out some minor paint bubbling. The diff was very noisy. It may still be like that but a grand would probably buy and install a used one. Beautiful car. Should have kept it .....
