An 11-month-old boy was given a brand new Maserati this week, as part of a prizegiving campaign in a Abu Dhabi theme park.
Humaid al Muhairi, who turns 1 in September, won the prize as part of a “Say Yas” campaign promoting the UAE’s Yas Island theme park. After receiving his prize, he was photographed sat on top on the car with his two brothers Omar (5) and Ahmad (3), all of whom were too small to be pictured inside the actual car.
The boy’s family told Yas Island they were expecting to win a smaller prize in the draw. But when they turned up at the ceremony they were given the keys to a shiny new Maserati, to their surprise and delight. .
“We were very surprised today to learn that that Humaid was the winner of the Maserati,” said father Mohammed. “Thank you so much to Yas Island for this wonderful day for my family and great prize.”
The prize was issued in a promotional competition for Yas Island, a manmade island in the UAE which is home to a luxury theme park, including malls, a waterpark, a motorsport circuit and an Ikea store. Maserati is a luxury Italian car brand, with models frequently reaching $100,000 and more when bought new.
Naturally, Humaid was not able to comment on his new car. He will be legally allowed to drive the vehicle at the age of 17 in 2032, according to Emirati law.
Perhaps the only downside is that his birthday next year will be a letdown. Unless he wins a private jet, the young Emirati may be relatively less enthused than he was this year.
