Primary cats gutted, Larini X pipe and Larini valved rear boxes, imagine MAF's GS but a more mature sound if you know what I mean

Honestly mate no. Everyone I've spoken to including Nick and Josh the exhuast fabricator have been reluctant to modify it simply because it is a thing of beauty, a waft machine with elegance and shouldn't be crude and shouty. In standard form it sings only at high revs even in Sport mode, I think it needs an X-pipe to get a little more rortiness out of it but to do the rear silencers would be criminal and make the car sound louder than it looks.

Do people know what I mean by this?

At least with a 3200 and a GS they looks sporty and should have a sound to match, and then there is the Banana car which has a volume switch up to 11! :D

Agreed Phil

And yours & Ewan's replacement both look stunning by the way

Looking good Phil. And I finally got to pick up its replacement earlier today:

Looks quality Ewan, first Dibs when you get bored and move on in 12 months :D

BTW, I did some digging on the exhaust and as yours is a Sport GTS it already has an X Pipe as standard without any resonator. To put a fabricated X-pipe or Larini replacement on there would frankly be a complete was of time and money. If you want loud then it's either secondary cats deleted and/or back boxes.

Hmm interesting, primary cats gutted? They are the ones I've had every other owner and exhaust fabricator tell me not to do for fear of CEL/Limp mode. Secondary cats make more sense surely?

And for me I love the Quad pipes on the QP, I can't get my head round those Ovals!

Video of your car sound?

When I still had my 3200, the cats were removed entirely, it had a Larini sports centre section and straight through rears and this did not throw a CEL which I was surprised about but yes, the more sophisticated ECUs of the later models may well not play ball

Are you absolutely sure yours had the primary cats removed too? That's some ******** right there if so Stu!

Not a problem just move your lambda sensors either side of the secondary cats, hence no CEL

But mine is an 06 car with four cats, I think the earlier cars have only two cats

Nope mine has 2 primary and 2 secondary.

I don't know what I am looking at! Can you zoom in a bit more lol!

So did you have to create a housing/mount for the lambda sensors in the secondary cats or move a hose?

I just cut a small square hole in the pipe work between the cats, you can then break the cat up and it falls out of the hole, weld the plate up then drill a hole just behind the second cat and weld a threaded boss on then just move the sensors down into their new position, the cable run ends up being neater as well, then cap the top sensor hole and job done.

As for noise, having listened to most of the amateur YouTube videos of Maserati exhaust sounds, they all sound nothing like the real thing, the only way I can describe it is like MAF's but slightly deeper.

This is what mine looks like. You can see the hoses going to the Lambdas on the primary cats. I assume they will need some extra length fabricating and some mounts for the actual probes themselves on the secondaries?

Maybe I should just do this? be a darn sight easier :D

Ok, yours are totally different than mine, yes removing the secondary cats would be the better way to go with yours, I,m intending to strip mine out completely next year and drop some 200 cel cats in and some smoother pipe work

This is a QP DS with secondary cat delete, sounds good but I think I am going X-pipe first then remove secondary cats if I want that little bit more! Jeez Maserati make their cars pretty restrictive don't they!

I looked at the rear silencers and my god on the main exit they have one larger diameter hole and a smaller pipe which looks like it is 1.25 "!!!!!!!! I've seen bigger pea shooters!!!

I got to Emblem at about 3, so must have missed you. Dropped off the Ghibli and collected the GTS.

There was a very lovely dark blue 4200 there - yours presumably?!
