I’m 1971, so here’s some more options for me... the GT6 was registered 5 days before I was borrn

71 here too but the idea of spending £20k on a GT6 is a bit of an anathema to me. They were a smidge over a Herald back in the day and couple of grand if they were lucky. The TVR is a better bet.
For anything in the 60s a mini cooper would be great but again the prices are a tad barking currently.

Fair do's.

I'd have this in a heartbeat then. Bang on budget as well.

Capes wins. Lovely thing.

A friend of mine was born in 1971 and does this too. He’s had several cars from that year but the best was a Maserati Ghibli SS that when sold broke the European auction record. Man, I loved that car. I know he kept a 71 e-type fhc after many cars from the year.

Another friend has a thing for cylinders and has ....

6 cylinder - Porsche 911r, TVR Sagaris
8 cylinder - Ferrari f430, Lexus LC500, Cayenne Turbo
10 cylinder - Dodge Viper VX
12 cylinder - Lambo Murcielago (one of 8 manual, rhd, lp640 every made and my favourite car of anyone I know. Wonderful thing).

I’m working my way through the cylinder thing.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 all done. Just need 10 and 12

forget the usual suspects, this is the one, 1970 "THE MORUKI" and as the seller states "real head turner" what's not to love about it;)

Here, yes done 1,2,3,4,5,6. & 8 only driven 10. & 12 had an RC Wankle engine in the 70’s if that counts, meant for an aeroplane but never built it, just ran the engine as it was ‘interesting!

Back to the original question, I wouldn't like a 'surprise' car unless it was clear what I would like.
They are such personal things!
I agree with this... I have suggested he may enjoy the act of researching and deciding what to buy.... I know I would.
