Have you bit the bullet on the resonator delete yet
No cos they seem a lot of cash for a bit of pipework. As mentioned someone very close to me is getting a Cetic tune on the 19th... I shall look forward to the impact on his car with interest .....

Will have words with my local guy (who's just setting up a shop as opposed to being fully mobile) to see how we go about getting the central resonator removed and some plain pipe welded in ;)

Yeah. I’m up for the tune and resonator delete, it’s hard not to go mad and spend a load of money though. I’ll do the pipe first then maybe a tune in the summer

Have replaced a few throttle bodies on that engine. Usually accompanied with difficult starting and an engine light

I ended up throwing parts at mine to fix the rev stumble. Think it was a death of a thousand cuts as each part improved it a little. Started with a handful of sensors then air flow units, new battery, throttle body etc etc. finally got it smooth and stable after replacing the cam variators and giving her an oil change. If I change the oil every 6 months (even when the car has only done 3000 miles) then it keeps it happy, if I’m lazy or forget it gets grumpy and the idle starts to play up.

I know I sound like a broken record but the Celtic tune is amaze-balls.
Make sure you get their gearbox software update as well as it is night and day better!!

That's interesting I wonder if on these engines it's worth putting in a good engine flush before changing the oil to remove any varnish or gumming up internally ?

Not sure how effective flushes are but may be worth a go for the cost.
Once I removed the variators I could physically feel them stick. Decided to replace all 4 as they were not overly expensive and an easy DIY job (as long as you don’t get too hand fisted on the Allan key bolts)!!

Have any of you lads also got a lot of waste gate rattle? Around 2000rpm my waste gate makes a bit of racket, I’m not sure if it’s got worse or is just annoying me more now. I’ve seen there was a campaign to install some waste gate clips to reduce the noise on the American forums.

Is it worth contacting MD to see if there are outstanding campaigns that need doing on the car? It’s definitely had the updated top mounts installed as I have paperwork for this

Fitted quiet a few of those on recall in New Zealand when they first came out so definitely worth contacting a Dealer to see if it's been done.

Not on mine, no.

Idle was unstable when I got to Leeds yesterday. Better than previously but worse than when I left.

@philw696 I'm always very leery of flushes, but given it's you. Thoughts on a good one?

There so many but it would be a Forté flush or a Liqui Moly Pro line both reputable companies that know the science.

They have said all campaigns have been done to the car, I'm wondering if its something that needs further attention then. They have said the RH waste gate clip was done in 2015

That's when I was doing the recall campaigns.
Nothing to say it hasn't fallen off so I would be taking a look.

Is there much to remove to get to it? I’ll have a look on the weekend. Hopefully it’s not too much of a job
